Pros: This dog park is very large- bigger than Piedmont! So big that's it's never really crowded. I love how there are short trails for you and your pup to explore. A water fountain is available for use. There are extra toys and tennis balls available for use- just make sure to leave them for the next person to use. Park is usually pretty well kept for a dog park. If there is poop on the ground, there are small flags you can put there to tell people to watch out.

Cons: Parking is a little confusing. There is free parking available next door where the rest of the park is. There is a small kids school in between the dog park and the regular park- which may throw you off. Go to the four way stop and the park will be on the left/right or straight ahead. There isn't a big dog area and a small dog area like other parks- just one big space to share.

I have been coming here for the past year and I highly recommend it to anyone....

Nice big area to let dogs run free but no separate area for small dogs as mentioned in other reviews. I have a big dog so I chose to go here but there is no place to park. I ended up parking in a close neighborhood area and walking to the park. They have a sign posted that it's for residents only. Not sure if that meant for the area neighborhood or Decatur. I assumed Decatur since "City of Decatur" is stamped at the top. I thought the people there were a little inconsiderate with their dogs. Only one person was there when I came in and she wasn't really paying attention to her dog as it approached mine. Then immediately after that, 4 more large dogs came in and they all crowded my dog while the owners just walked away, their backs turned and not even talking to their dogs. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I have the calmest, sweetest dog ever and I still talk to her and pay close attention when she's...

The park is lovely, beautifully maintained and spacious. Parking lot nearby is free. But there are way too many unfixed dogs. I mostly go midday and in about 4 visits I've seen several spats where the owners couldn't be bothered to recall their dogs. Today, as we were entering, my happy-go-lucky 6 year old dog got attacked for the first time in her life. The owner didn't even get up from the bench. I had to pull her dog off while screaming for her to come over all the while trying to close the gate door. There was another person entering the double-gate area and the 5 dogsc at the gate could've easily bolted. Several minutes later, the same dog attacked another entering dog. The woman still kept sitting. I yelled at her to take her dog away. These things happen but the complete lack of awareness (and giving a damn) were astounding. I will only go to Fetch going forward. Irresponsible idiots get...

Decatur wants to spend $1M OUR tax money (along with a 3 million dollar grant) to ‘upgrade’ Oakhurst Park + Sugar Creek Garden — aka shrink a community green space and public dog park by paving over it with privately owned softball fields and pickleball courts. They will close streets and put up paved parking lots . 🌳💸 Speak up before it’s too late! 📍City Hall: 509 N McDonough St, Decatur GA 🗓️ Next meeting: Mon Nov 3 @ 7:30 PM 📧 Email your commissioners and the mayor: Mayor Patti.Garrett@decaturga.com | Commissioners Tony.Powers@decaturga.com | Kelly.Walsh@decaturga.com | Lesa.Mayer@decaturga.com | George.Dusenbury@decaturga.com #SaveOakhurstPark #DecaturGA #KeepOurGreen #CommunityOverConcrete #TaxpayerAlert
