The pool was closed at granddaughters apartment (in 100° temp... for 5 days...apparently to be cleaned. We saw no cleaning.)
Having just wanted to spend an hour or so to cool off, I looked for Splash Pad.
The best part... it's free!! When we got there, there was just one other family (which surprised me since it's in a neighborhood and by apartments. But... maybe the apartment building had their pool open!) Other families came and went. With my waterbabies, however, we were there for just over 2 hours.
The water wasn't cold, but it wasn't hot either. Maybe a few degrees lower than a warm bath. The place was clean. There are benches around the area, but only two have a sunshade. (If you go in the evening, the west side may be covered in shade from the trees)
Two bathrooms, and for being public bathrooms, were quite clean.
No food or drinks there. There is a water fountain, but I imagine that water is a warm as the splash pad water. So bring your own snacks/ drinks.
Overall, we enjoyed this little park. There were also slides, swings, and picnic tables... but the kids just wanted to play...
Read moreTook the family there at about 3pm on a Monday to play at the splash pad. There didn't seem to be a lot of parking, but there were very few people at the time, and ours was the only car in the lot when we pulled in. There is no shade directly over the splash pad, but there are shade trees about 15' from the pad with a few benches right by it, and several picnic tables nearby. The kids all seemed to get along, which was nice. The park was well kept with a couple of porta potties next to the street by the pad. Definitely...
Read moreWe visited this park and splashpad last year and this year. Last year there was only 1 homeless guy in the park, he stayed in the restroom. We visited again yesterday (August 30, 2024), the splashpad definitely improved, more fun for the kids as well as the number of homeless people in the park increased too. I would have rated this 5 stars but because of the homeless people lurking and made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable. 1 of them was friendly and nice but the other two were like...
