TL:DR The food is pretty good, and as long as you get it to go, you shouldn't have a problem.
It's a cool place, but it got hyped up a lot to me, and didn't quite live up to the promise. The food tasted good, but everything else felt weird.
First of all, it's in a awkward location. Kind of in the middle of town, but feels like it's on the edge, and it's really confusing to get too. My gps has gotten lost maybe twice in its life, and I definitely threw it off trying to get here. There were tons of cars outside, but it seems like it's a shared parking lot with the nearby stores, and maybe even the Denton Square, though getting parking wasnt an issue.
Secondly, the store itself is tiny. That's not inherently a bad thing, but my friend and I has to scoot our bar stools over so people could get to the only indoor table. Maybe it's more of a pick up and leave joint, but the place could definitely seat like 20 people max.
Thirdly, regarding their food, its tasty, but fairly expensive for the amount you get. As a broke college student, it hurts the budget to go in there, and the issue is only compounded when you order any drink other than water, because you get a can and a cup. It's one of those modern things restaurants are doing these days, I guess it keeps overhead lower than normal, but man is it annoying. They do have nice jugs of water though, so I appreciate that.
In general, it's a cool place to take your friends that are in town for 2 days once, but not really a repeat location. The foods good, don't...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Boca31 on thier opening weekend. It has been almost 4 years since then and we had driven in from Midland TX, so needless to say we were excited visiting this restaurant. The unassuming building has not changed much since thier opening, and let me tell you, the food is still amazing. We ordered the tacos, empanadas, and quesadillas. I had to go back in and order more food a couple of times because my kids kept eating. The hibiscus tea was just as we remembered. The youngest, a ripe 2 years of age inhaled everything he could fit in his mouth, and the only thing he found not to his liking was the barbacoa brisket.
The Chef owner has always been very warm and welcoming when we visit and I am glad to say it has upheld the reputation that we tout.
Bottom line, take your family, friends, take a stranger they will find something delicious to eat and staff that is a as warm...
Read moreA fantastic taste of hispanic street-style food. Always very fresh and made with care. The kitchen is open to the interior dining area so you can see it being prepared. I've not had a single bad thing in the handful of times eating here. I most highly recommend the empanadas, as they're cheap, delicious, and filling. Also, they come with the house made sour cream which is so good I could almost eat it by itself. The specials are always special. The only bad thing about this restaurant is its location, which is more the property owners fault than the staff of this restaurant. Its easy to miss, the parking lot has lots of potholes, and it can be dark at night. Seating is limited and can be uncomfortable, but that I'm still giving this a 5-star score should tell you how little the negatives impact...
