While it’s understandable that healthcare providers operate as for-profit businesses, there should be a responsibility to provide quality care and fair pricing. Unfortunately, my experiences with Derry Imaging and Medical Center have left much to be desired, particularly regarding cost, accessibility, and the overall patient experience.
Pricing Concerns
The cost of care at this facility is exceedingly high. Even with insurance, I’ve faced charges of $600 per visit. For individuals or families with moderate incomes (under $75,000/year), this pricing feels unaffordable and inaccessible. Furthermore, some recommended workups and visits have seemed unnecessary, which only compounds the frustration.
Patient Advocacy
I strongly encourage patients to advocate for themselves and seek information to better understand their medical needs. In my experience, there have been moments when staff discouraged independent learning or research, which can make patients feel dismissed or uninformed. While medical professionals are experts in their field, it’s essential for patients to feel empowered to ask questions and understand their care.
Communication and Accessibility
Another significant issue is the lack of coordination and accessibility. I’ve had to visit three different locations for care due to scheduling challenges, which is both time-consuming and inefficient. Billing is another area of concern; reaching someone to resolve a payment issue often requires calling multiple numbers, leaving voicemails, and waiting days for a response.
Quality of Care
When seeking treatment for physical injuries, I’ve found the focus tends to lean heavily on prescribing medications rather than addressing the root cause. This can leave patients feeling that their concerns are not fully addressed.
Final Thoughts
While I recognize the challenges healthcare providers face, my experiences with Derry Imaging and Medical Center have been disappointing. For those seeking primary care or specialty services, I recommend carefully evaluating your options. Take the time to ask questions, research pricing, and ensure that the practice aligns with your expectations for accessibility, transparency, and...
Read moreI spoke with someone in scheduling I believe, I was told the extension I was given was for that dept. The phone number originally given to me was a fax machine, so I just ended up dialing to main line and the ext the front desk told me to call. The person answering the phone did not identify themselves or the department in which they worked. He also immediately had a poor attitude. I later learned this arrogant employee's name was Ryan.
I was trying to explain the scenario I had and he kept speaking over me, telling me I wasn't listening. He kept telling me about my insurance and how they couldn't see my husband at the office bc of his VA insurance, even tho he doesn't even have VA insurance. My husband is seen at the VA occasionally but we don't have their insurance. This employee didn't care to hear that part of the story to schedule our appt, he rather just argue with us than help us; even tho he was wrong (I know this bc I looked into it before and after I called). He wanted nothing to do with me. He wouldn't even hear me out or let me explain further.
I was helping my husband set up an appt and we were both on this phone call. My husband is a veteran and is also sick right now and needed several tests scheduled in a short window. We were doing everything we could to advocate for ourselves and this person treated us like we were trash. He had an attitude the entire time.
This person couldn't even admit they were wrong or even ask for someone else's opinion on the matter. Instead they chose to treat clients like garbage and act like he was better than everyone. When I called back to get his name and the name of his supervisor you could hear the snide tone in his voice.
So thank you to RYAN. He is the reason I will never go back to Derry Imaging for ANYTHING and I will absolutely advise everyone I know and even people I don't know to do the same. To treat not only a sick patient that way but a veteran as well...
Read moreI recently experienced health issues that required a CT scan. Although my GP referred me to a specialist located in a Derry Office they are affiliated with CMC. The Spacialist receptioist asked if I wanted to go to Manchester or Nashua for the scan. I requested/prefer to use Derry Imaging was my response. I felt a little push back as I was told they are really busy over there and I may not get a call back appointment for weeks. To ensure things moved smoothly I took a copy of the orders being faxed over and went straight to Derry Imaging. Not only did the receptionist greet me with a smile. She was eager to help. The fax was not showing. She copied my order and told me she would watch for them and process immediately. I received a call within 24hrs and was scheduled within a couple of days. On the day of testing I was taken right in. The 2 nurse/CT techs were extremely professional, personable as well as knowledgeable. They told me every step of the way what to expect as this large machine hummed and contrast was administered. Although anxious I felt comfortable. As I anxiously awaited the results I was not getting anywhere with the requesting specialist office. In frustration I once again called Derry Imaging now 5 days after the test. They not only assured me the test result were indeed processed within 24hrs. They went above and beyond and connected with the specialist office so my follow up appointment could be made. I strongly recommend...
