South Side Library — Attraction in Des Moines

We love our south side library!

Always enjoy coming here, and the staff are welcoming and very polite. We love coming to story time, which includes extra special activities on occasion.

We have seen a fire truck, gone on a bus ride, got to meet a snake from the zoo, made arts and crafts, and played with the interactive toys, all at the library!

We especially appreciate the inter-library service which allows you to get items from the other city libraries sent to this one. The staff put the items on hold for you, and you can come pick them up all on your own anytime...

We went to the library on NYE and my daughter loved their "party." She is almost 4. There were 4 or 5 different stations to color, make a crown, make a party toy, a chemical reaction station with a very fun and helpful employee. Few young volunteers were helpful. And a balloon drop. All free. Kids also took home a party favor bag. We go at least once a month and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Check out their website or call, they are always offering fun things...

I recently renewed my library card. The head librarian was a great help. She even helped get my son get signed up for the summer reading challenge. The challenge is a lot more than reading. It has inspired him to want to volunteer at the library and make art. The library also has many different events going on. For someone like me who's a little Introverted, it's small...
