Civic Center Park — Attraction in Detroit

I took my son sledding here with his friend. We had a playdate on a snow day. We had a great time & stayed almost 4 hours, taking a break to warm up at the Time Hortons on the corner. We can't wait to go back....Just need some snow!! I just wish the restrooms were open when there is a lot of snow and they know people will be sledding because it is a popular spot, even if they were only open like noon to 4 or something similar. Great park for kids. Splash pad, playscapes, disc golf, sledding hill in the winter, roller hockey rink, dog park, covered pavilion for parties/events, restrooms, etc. There is plenty of parking and there is a path to walk/bike/run on that goes around the whole park. Only real complaint is that there aren't enough trees in the park to get out of the sun. It would be nice if some were planted closer to the activities for kids so in a few years there would be places to put a few benches do the kids or parents could get out of the sun if...

Fields are some of the nicest public ball diamonds around since they've redone the infields thou the outfields could use some work...... Also wish the fences were 300' or more so there wasn't any cheap HRs insteadvof the 289'/290' they measure now, @ the least on diamonds 2 & 3, the 2 fields with lights, these 2 could easily be adjusted to 300' or more. If the fences on those 2 fields were moved that 10 feet back it'd get 5 stars.... As it sits now I give the complex 4 outta 5 stars a mojor plus to this park is the kids...
