This gym provides a very unique experience and opportunity for personal growth second to none. Not only does Cooper's Gym teach you the art of boxing, muay thai, and various aspects of martial arts through a rigorous, organized approach but also infuses valuable life and leadership lessons that will translate over into solid personality gems; i.e. for work and interpersonal relationships. For example, kids and adults are encouraged (from time to time), to lead portions of the various classes to help develop personal confidence. Alternatively, a student may be asked to explain why he/she chose a course of action over another in terms of fighting or training performance.... spot on, in real time. This is done in a measured and progressive manner, leaving the student with a true measure of personal challenge and growth. In terms of public speaking or leadership skills, these experiences can easily be assimilated into normal situations outside the gym, at work or school, or interpersonal issues that require a confident and balanced approach. Another truly remarkable aspect of Cooper's Gym is the non-judgemental attitude the Head Teacher(Sensi) has towards his students and expects all his student to adhere to; namely treat each other with respect and true value. Everyone has different levels of ability depending on age, physical build, psychology, etc. yet everyone is encouraged to do their personal best. This produces the best possible scenario for each student involved. That's all this is expected. This is a valuable life lesson that can also be translated over into becoming a better and more tolerant and inclusive member of society at large. Through the platform(or art) of fighting, Cooper's Gym is actually forming a better citizen, a better person. Someone more conscientious of his fellow man(or woman), someone more confident yet thoughtful, someone more brave, yet not abrasive: that combined with a through education of the art form itself in a real, non-compromising, hard work ethic fashion (in terms of actually learning the chosen art) is one of those rare opportunities afforded in life that would greatly enhance any student fortunate...
