Northland Roller Rink — Attraction in Detroit

If I could give this place negative 10 stars I would! Firstly, the owner and most of the crew were highly disrespectful, unhelpful and rude. How do you not give a client who is having a private event at your facility a walk-through, specific instructions on what is allowed and what’s not allowed and then get upset when they are asking lots of questions???😂 I sponsored a skating event, and the owner and his daughter were just downright rude, disrespectful, and insulting to my host who was helping me with this event. They behaved like they hate the community they’re serving and like they are doing you a favor by taking YOUR money.😳 Anytime my partner tried to ask questions he was constantly being threatened that they would give us our money back, and we could cancel the event on THE DAY OF the event. Besides that, the building is run down, I could not use any of my branding for the event, I had a step and repeat, which I was not allowed to put up and take down because they would not allow us into the building any earlier than 15 minutes before for set up and then told us we weren’t allowed to set it up anyway. They shut the bathrooms down 30 minutes before our skate time was over😳, so none of my people who came to the event could use the bathroom before they got in their cars and left. Who does that????? The sound system is trash! There are so many other places to go in the Detroit metropolitan area. We need to stop patronizing this place because we have great memories of Northland skating rink because this owner is disrespectful and cares nothing for our community. He and his staff consistently mistreated human beings, who spent their time and money at his establishment....

The DJ does not know how to play real SKATE music. Christopher Cross made a beautiful song “Sailing”. I admit it wasn’t a song, I expect to hear on a Friday Night Skate along with Too Short’s “It’s Time to Go”. We came to skate not to fall in love. Before getting out of the car we watched a man and two women fighting and arguing in the parking lot, which started at the front door lead into the park lot and around the building, and security didn’t stop them or ask them to leave. Soul Skaters “Be ware”. The Restrooms are foul and needs a lot attendant. Northland where do I start…when your so-called “DJ ” Who is not good at his job, uses the MF word when talking to skaters and feels bold enough to give skaters a middle finger, getting into a fight with another co-worker during a Sat. night skate, I was told he was fired that night. I went back two weeks later and there HE was. The sound system there is awful and bathrooms are really nasty. I noticed our teenagers are not treated nice when they are there and some new higher prices around the rink since the new floor…. The owner could have saved a lot of money on refinishing that NEW floor three or four times and invested it in hiring a “NEW DJ” that treats people like people. As a skater, I would skate on an old floor to great skate music anytime. It's time to take my money...

I came from out of town to purchase skates from my childhood skating rink for the most part I thought the people were very friendly…but I felt like they were misleading and dishonest with my skate purchase..The first time I puchased the skates it had an aluminum plate on the bottom of the skates..by the Time I got them home I saw that they had switched out the place or the skate entirely. So I returned the next day in order to get a skate that wasn’t a skate with a wide boot and to get a metal plate That was on the skate. The pro shop wanted to charge me $375 To get a black medium size boot. But offered me the same skate and white for the price that I had paid For the original so instead of getting the black boots in a regular size, I ended up purchasing the white ones which I didn’t want and when asked about the plastic plate on the bottom, the pro shop manager told me that the metal aluminum plates breaks easily. That is why the plastic plate was on the bottom.. These are very nice people, but when it comes to purchasing nice skates, all they are concerned with is getting your money, but not giving you what you have purchased. I will not ever go back...
