Nails Plaza — Attraction in Diamond Bar

The nail techs are really hit or miss when it comes to whether they know what they are doing, especially with natural nails.

The past two times I have gone, I had ordered the Signature manicure but they gave me the regular - and NO hot oil massage either time, which is supposed to be included with regular. Just a quick massage with cold lotion. And I am pretty sure they charged me for Signature both times. But it's hard to tell, because the pricing is very fast and loose.

Today they charged me $8 because they had to do additional layers of gel polish because the polish was so runny it was still see-through to the nail at the base of the nail. I tried to instruct the girl in how to apply it properly when you have very thin/runny polish like that (both her and the guy who came over to help kept pushing down the brush at the base of the nail, which creates a divot). She called over the guy. He did the EXACT same thing and it took like 4-5 layers of polish to do something that could have been done in 2...the two nails I showed the lady how to do before the guy came over were done in 2 coats because I showed her how to apply the second coat properly. You have to not press so the polish sits on the nail, then when it sets it's opaque.

Then they charged me $8 because of the extra layers; because they don't know how to work with different polish types?? Any other manicurist I have gone to will always apply extra layers for thin/runny polish if it's still see-through.

The last time I was there, they charged me extra for doing 3 colors (one of which was white). No designs, just alternating a third color in - $5 extra.

I really want to make this my go to place since I live just up the hill, but the experience and pricing is so inconsistent. Everyone's nice, and for pedicures everything was fine. I'm sure anyone getting acrylics is fine. But for polish on natural nail manicures it's just not a...

Just in response to another post I saw about Henry being rude to them because of the skin color I think that's jumping to conclusions without any evidence. I have supported Nails Plaza and it's sister store Pure Bliss since they first opened. This nail salon has wonderful technicians who treat you like family. However, I agree Henry can be abrasive at times, but I have never seen Henry treat anybody poorly because of their skin color. I frequently here and see Henry laughing and getting along with people of all colors shapes and sizes. I don't believe Henry means to be so short and rude with people, but I think he doesn't understand when he's being rude sometimes. It may be a cultural disconnect, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that it's due to skin color. If Henry is rude he's an equal opportunity type of rude person. But as I said Henry and I go way back so I've seen him for years treat women of all colors with the same attitude regardless of what color your skin is. I was referred here by a friend who raves about this place, but I was underwhelmed. To start, we came in as a group of 3 and waited about 20 mins to be seated, the second person who was getting a pedicure was left as the services were being started to care for who seemed to be a "regular", the 3rd person waited an extra 15 mins to get her pedicure started even though there were available seats. The gentlemen who was doing my acrylics seemed to be in a rush to service the regular and the finish product of my nails looked like they needed to be filled"as if I had worn them for two weeks" I brought this up to him and he was very rude and tried to discredit my concern. He started to work on the regular until another person in my party said it was inadequate work. All in all we were able to convince him to fix the issue but I would said there needs to be a BIG improvement on communication.
