I have been living near here for over three years now, and I come here every week to exercise at the beach. It is a great spot, family-friendly and without either undercurrents or high tides. I did once get robbed here (not assaulted) one day when it was pretty empty, so watch out for your belongings if you are going alone. The presence of either a lifeguard or personnel to man the parking area is a very unpredictable factor, though it has improved. There are some good places to eat within walking distance, notably Villa Dorada de Alberto. The beach can get a bit crowded during the weekends, but you can stray a bit further from the public area to the shoreline of the nearby hotels for a more quiet spot.

But over all a wonderful sunny yet shady afternoon listening to the crash of the waves on the beach. Oh and beware of the beach...

It is a nice long stretch of sand that provides access to the typically calm water. Playa Sardinera (officially known as Balneario Manuel "Nolo" Morales) has a roped-off swimming area, gated parking, bathrooms, showers, lifeguards, and water-quality monitoring. There is a long strip of sand and then a row of trees that provide some shade. There are also some picninc tables in the shaded area. I love this place, it's secure for children and there is so much shade from trees and a lot of places to play pool...
