Cathy Mahoney Recreation Center — Attraction in Downers Grove

I really like the space. It's clean, neat, very well equipped, but it has a huge lack of organization, complete chaos. I went for a badminton session with friends during their proposed time for adults. The place was filled with children under the age of fourteen. On top of it, we had a debate with some women who asked my group of eight people to give her half of the court in order to play a parallel, independent game on the other half of our court with her minors? We offered her to include her to play with us, but she was determined to subtract half of the court for her children and her, and she was allowed to do so! I was totally blown out by the idea that two different groups could play two different sets, on one net at the same court and at the same time! Unfortunately, the young guy who represented the Recreational Center wasn't helpful at all. According to him, that whole mess looked fine.

In contrary to the official, I'm wondering, in this actual setup, is it possible to protect yourself and not injure (by accident) some of the kids who are rooming around? Who is going to be responsible if somebody injures the kids at the time when they are not allowed to be there at all?

So, I hope that in the future the Recreation Center in Downers Grove will be able to offer their services as they are advertising them ( as we are paying for it), and not to put people in unpleasant and unsafe situations. That type of crowd is against any of the rules of any kind of sport. The attempts to play sports like that will lose their purpose, place, and meaning. Indeed, I truly believe that if the officials decide to fix the mess and to promote a certain level of the order (by implying the rules), Recreation Center in Downers Grove would be a great place. At this moment, it is just a terrible example of how things do not...

I only use the Rec Center for the walking track - and that is a great amenity that only costs residents $5/year to use as much as they want. It's well lit, clean, and adequately heated/cooled. There are bathrooms and water fountains just outside the door and cubbies lining one...
