Almost a bit sad to leave this review after having been such a huge fan of Tacochela for so long. This used to be our Taco go to on random nights but especially for hosting friends/large groups - literally have spent a couple grand here in the past few years and have had countless friends start going here after eating it at our place. Unfortunately, the quality and consistency has just been declining over time with today being the culmination of all of the stacking fails.
We put in an online order directly through their website earlier today for a scheduled delivery in time for dinner. Delivery time came and went. Tried calling but phone line wasn't working. Eventually opted to just drive over and was told that their systems are down. Fine, sometimes these things happen, but the staff just seemed very indifferent about the whole thing. And they were taken aback by the fact that i asked for the Delivery Fee and Driver Tip to be refunded from my order even though I came to pick it up myself and they questioned if I really wanted that (told that the manager will adjust for it tomorrow).
They proceed to take pictures of my order and did the same with the person behind me dealing with the same issue, but then they prepared the order of that person before mine. I eventually get my order and get it home almost an hour after we were planning to feed our kids, only to open up the food and realize they screwed up 10 out of the 10 main items we ordered, not to mention all of the meat was pretty flavorless/watery tinga today, which never used to be a thing here but has been happening more frequently! My 4 and 6 yr olds wouldn't even eat their tacos because of the random toppings that were caked in there that shouldn't have been!
The other frustrating part about the increasing number of fails with this place has been that at some point in the past however many months, they just stopped picking up their phone regardless of what time of day you call, so cannot even followup with issues. So unfortunately, the sum of all of that has led to this review as the only real way to leave feedback. Up until tonight, we had still been planning to use Tacochela to cater our Super Bowl party in two weeks, but at this point, if we cannot trust them to get an order right for a family of 4 on a random night, definitely cannot trust them any more to get things right for 30 people on a busy day!
Hopefully these guys can figure out how to get back to what made them so great once upon a time but I think we are done for awhile and have to warn friends to...
Read moreI wanna start off by saying I've never taken the time to make a bad review but this place(I believe)tried to steal my wallet. Not a joke but i wish it was I left my wallet at the cashier counter(just not payingattentionand thinkingabout my food), got home and noticed it was gone then realized I probably left it at the store. I called at least 10 times with no answer ( probably because it was around 4:30 dinnertime) I arrived at the store to find the cashier I last saw when I had my wallet in her car in front of the store. I noticed her exchange words with another employee who was coming in to the store. I asked the owner if I left my wallet ...she said "no... I'm sorry 😀" I was sure I'd left it there not knowing where else I had it last. After about 10 minutes the owner just says no one has found anything. I was upset but more worried and a little suspicious, some of the body language of the employee were showing discomfort when they heard what I was looking for. The cashier women stayed outside in her car and as I walked out the restaurant I noticed my wallet 2 parking spots away from the woman who worked there and kinda near were my car was parked before i left the first time. It was open with my debit card out, everything was in it. I picked it up and the cashier lady yelled from her car "you found your wallet?!" Very eger like she was happy for me, I was filming at this time and responded "yea I did" walked to my car and left. I realized instantly what had happened. She took my wallet and put it in her car, I know this because my wallet was in the parking lot positioned to where you'd have to see it while walking in the store and the line was full of people as well as the employee that was showing up (but i was the first to find it.... a hour later, almost like it had just been thrown out ) I left without issue and I can't go back, sad part is I like the food. But I'd be lying if I said this was the first negative encounter with this establishment. There's been multiple times I've gotten not so curious service or heard employees talking about me in other languages. Everytime...
Read moreZabiha-halal eater here! Chicken & lamb are the only zabiha-halal items on the menu, and from what I remember, the only two ways to get chicken are either grilled or chinga.
When I went, there was only one person starting the orders and a second person adding the toppings/doing the cashier duties. This made the line move extremely slow. We waited almost 25 minutes in line before our orders were taken.
I ordered three quesatacos (tortillas filled with cheese like a quesadilla that act as a base for the taco) in 3 different versions: chinga, battered fish, and grilled shrimp. Once the meat is added, you move onto the topping section like Chipotle where you choose your toppings. The topping selection was HUGE. Lots of salsas, sauces, pickled options, and other toppings.
Overall, my favorite taco was the battered fish. SO SO SO good. I added chopped pineapple and chipotle mayo among other toppings. I'm a huge fish taco fan, so definitely getting that again.
Chinga was okay. The taco became a bit soggy and the toppings were overflowing, even though I didn't add a lot. Shrimp was also good/flavorful, but not as good as the fried fish in my opinion. We also ordered a side of seasoned fries (huge!! - could definitely split between four people) and horchata (SOOO GOOD!!!).
Overall, I was satisfied with part of my order, but I wish management would hire more people to speed up the process. If you go, get the fish and horchata! Thank...
