I bought a small sofa with a chaise for a small apartment about a month ago. Although they have very nice furniture. I did not like the way the salesman presented the financing, or should I say "lease" of the sofa. I'm not sure if the deliberately try to mislead people just to make the sale but I certainly didn't appreciate it. Basically, it was a $679 sofa but after the contract you sign it would turn out to be almost $1600 dollars đ±. It's not a normal finance plan where you can choose how to make your payments. They automatically set you up on a 12 month payment plan to charge you the most interest possible.
They don't explain what the interest rate is, they tell you you won't even have to pay taxes, although you will. I just found out about the ridiculous amount I would end up paying until after you sign the purchase contract in the microscopic text the email you AFTER you sign it. They charge a $22 application fee also and you will need to hand over your debit card for the automatic monthly payment withdrawals.
I've tried contacting Acima to try to set up the 3 month early payment option but they make it impossible. You basically have to make extra payments yourself to make sure you pay if off in 3 months to avoid paying more than double for your furniture. The problem is, when you go to the Acima portal to try to make a payment it never goes through. They really don't want you to pay it off in 3 months.
What I hate most is that they sell a lot to the low income hispanic community so they are screwing over people who cant make larger monthly payments even more. Now I see why when my girlfriend told me how much her furniture cost it seemed ridiculously expensive.
If you decide to buy here please DO NOT finance with Acima unless you know exactly what you are getting into. I wish the salespeople would be more honest with their customers up front about this financing, more like rent to own or "leasing" as...
Read moreIt's lengthy but worth reading. I purchased a stove, a fridge, and a sectional/corner sofa. I was happy with the first two but the quality of my sofa wasn't 100% Within the first couple weeks of my purchase, I experienced a minor issue that I fixed myself due to not having the time or energy of going thru the whole exchange/return scenario. If it was major, of course I would. However what made them earn 1 out of 5 stars is their hostile and harassing way of recovering a late payment. Unless I'm the only one this happens to, here's what you can expect. If you're late on your payment the first week, you opened the floodgates of phone calls. Ignoring their calls? Next you'll get blocked or unknown numbers. The second/third week; they'll be calling your place of work, your relatives, and anyone whom you put as a reference. Later than that 3rd week, you'll be getting a knock on your door in a gangsta "Where he at? He's late on a payment" fashion. I mean, not even my mortgage providers go to that extent and it hadn't even been 30 days. Yes it may be my fault for provoking it, but life happens people, sometimes payments go past the due dates. Also, I tried scheduling a later payment being sincere with them letting them know I was gonna be late and their response was only "no, you can't do that" so I said I'll call them back later and simply didn't contact them again until I was ready with my payment since they don't allow post-dated payments. At least I had been faithful to 1year+ of payments not letting a single one go past a month. It wasn't worth it purchasing from them ultimately because it doesn't help my credit score. They apparently don't report to credit bureaus. Anywho, for this place I lean more towards displeased. I wouldn't recommend it...
Read moreIf I could rate this place with 0 stars I would! I purchased a bed set from the Downey store as a gift for my mom and went back within 2 days to return it because she wanted a different bed frame. They charged me a restocking fee of over 50%, a delivery fee of $130( even though the website states the delivery fee as $100), and charged me for a queen sized box spring (even though the bed I purchased is a full and I had already paid for the base/box). The bed was supposed to be delivered the next day and they were supposed to replace the bunky board I purchased with the box spring. Yet when I arrived home I found the bed In 3 parts NOT ASSEMBLED and the bunky board still there with NO BOX SPRING in site. I called the warehouse and they hung up on me repeatedly. I finally spent an entire day trying to get in contact with anyone who could fix the issue and was unable to. The manage refuses to speak to me and the warehouse will not give me the numbers to higher management. I would like to know WHY MY MOTHERS BED WAS NOT ASSEMBLED WHEN I PAID THE FULL COST OF DELIVERY. Why the box spring I purchased was not delivered. Followed by sn apology and full refund of the delivery fee, box spring, and restocking fee since nothing was restocked. Do not purchase from this store. The sales rep who help me was Wendy Aguilar she was nice but the one who wrote my information wrong. And the warehouse people are the ones who had the audacity to drop off a 3 piece bed set and not assemble it leaving a 71 year old woman to sleep on the floor. I attached photos of how those warehouse workers left...
