Since this is a soft opening of Caña things will change by the grand opening but so far we love this restaurant. Tropicana is traditional Cuban food. This is not. It's definitely more Cuban fusion. All the food is excellent. The sliders were by far our favorite of the main courses. The flavors were very different but so good. All the meat was juicy and flavorful. We also tried the steak frites which had yuca fries. Best yuca fries we've ever had and probably the star of the show for us. The steak itself was good and perfectly cooked. The chimichurri sauce was very different than I've had before. My girlfriend said it seemed very homemade to her. We also tried some kind of dessert with an orange, yogurt and carmelized sugar. That description doesn't do it justice and it wasn't really my thing but it was good. I'm not a fruit dessert guy.
The restaurant still has some finishing touches to be done as far as the interior but it's going to be nice when it's done. I can definitely see it being a very popular place for dinner, some drinks at the bar area or even some coffee in the coffee bar/ wine area. We're very excited for the grand opening in a month or so. Seriously, we love trying new restaurants and we haven't been this excited for a new opening in a long time.
I almost ended the review without mentioning the staff. All the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They seemed genuinely excited to be working there. There was someone there that seemed like he could have been the owner and although he was busy with other things he was...
Read moreFrom the moment you pull up to 11402 Old River School Road, you can tell this isnât your everyday bar. The setting is transformed into a Halloween playground: moody lighting, spineâtingling dĂ©cor, ghostly silhouettes, and thematic touches that lean into the spooky without going full horror movie (though if you want that, theyâve got it). ïżŒ As the sky darkens, the place comes alive: DJ sets spin eerie and energetic tracks, the lights flicker just so, and the crowd gets into character. Itâs playful Halloween theatre. Expect cocktails with creative names, âhauntedâ garnish, maybe some dry ice or fog, and bites that fit the theme. Itâs less about haute cuisine and more about fun presentation and good enough flavor to keep you sipping. The popâup doesnât skimp on visuals. There are curated photo zones (graveyards, skeletons, fog machines, dramatic lighting) that are perfect for Instagram or just capturing Halloween memories. Plus, there are live performances and DJs to keep the energy high. Entry prices vary by day: Thursdays & Sundays are cheaper, while Fridays & Saturdays command a higher price. If youâre looking for a Halloweenâseason night out thatâs equal parts spectacle, atmosphere, and fun, Beyond the Grave delivers. Youâll get memorable visuals, a lively crowd, themed drinks and bites, and something Instagramâworthy around...
Read morePlace seems good and wife was excited because she loves shit like that (Halloween shit). We had a reservation (Party of 4) and paid $20.71 per person to go in. No tables were available when we arrived. We were told once a table became available to take it and a server will help us out. About 15 mins later we sit down and order. 30 minutes after ordering food and drinks and still eating and drinking, We were asked if there was anything else, and said we were good for now. About 5 mins later, the server returns and says we have to move because there is a reservation coming in. I mentioned we had a reservation and showed her the stupid wristband they gave us when we walked in since we were told to stand in the reservations line. Any way, we were told that we had to give up our table in the next 10 mins because a VIP reservation was coming in. I showed her the wristband and told her we have a reservation plus what I was told about the table by another server. Our server pretty much said that we could look for another table. I told her since itâs by reservation, to find me a table and she said she couldnât do that. We finished our drinks, asked for a box for our food and walked out. Disappointed about the place. Never returning. If I could give it negative stars I would. Came to OJOS...
