Stater Bros. Markets — Attraction in Downey

I walked into the Deli. The two workers were standing there not doing anything and talking. When I asked one for a sandwich it seemed to annoy him. I was a little turned off when I couldn't see exactly what they were doing to my sandwich. I also found it off that he used the cheapest bread I have ever seen and the turkey he sliced looked subpar as well. I asked for salt and pepper, vinegar and oil and they didn't have that as well. I have bought sandwiches from other Stater Bros before and they always had all the ingredients, especially salt and pepper...!? Without asking me how I wanted it made, or if I even wanted to cut, he cut it, put it on a plastic tray and wrapped it for some reason...? It was the worst looking sandwich I had ever seen, but feeling bad that I made him make it I unfortunately bought it anyway. On getting home and eating it, I noticed it felt a little off but didn't think much of it. Hours later, while on the way to something important, my stomach was NOT having anymore of this sandwich. To say the LEAST it ruined my night, my stomach and I don't think I'll ever eat anything from that deli again. I will contact corporate and let the manager know about this as well. VERY off that you have no ingredients, can't see what is being done to the sandwich and it comes looking like garbage made with seemingly old ingredients. Very Poor. Don't eat food from the deli. I noticed the other girl who was working there was haphazardly throwing fried chicken into the holding area without a care that she was making it look disgusting. So sad. I've shopped here for years and years. Recently they did a huge remodel and it's fantastic!

They've put all kinds of "special" new areas that provide beautiful precut fruit trays in several different sizes and prices. And there's many different selections of fruit combinations to choose from. (1 person size up to Party size).

If you like to make your own vegetable trays, they have everything for that ready to go too....or....ready made trays.

The Deli has really enlarged the selections of salads and side dishes. I think they even put a nice Coffee Bar at the far end of the Deli and it looks inviting.

I really think they enlarged the Bakery area too. I've been trying to stay out of that area, but what I've peeked at in passing thru showed me I better walk REAL fast.

They also have one of the absolute best Meat Department and are always happy to make your purchase cut and wrapped exactly as you want. Love that!

The folks working there give better service then most....and keep their store nice and clean....even their Public Restrooms.

And the carts are wiped after every use as best they can, and I really appreciate that extra protection for me is really appreciated.

Over all, I believe their prices are as fair as possible at these demanding and costly times. Happy Shopper!

Good Job...

Horrible customer service!! I went here earlier today and politely asked a cashier if she could help me out with a little issue I had. I had a gift card that had $500 but the numbers on the card peeled off and the card also got demagnetized. My only option was to go to stater bros where the card was purchased and have them reprint the receipt by simply scanning the barcode on the back that was still visible. The cashier loudly said “oh sorry we don’t don’t do those things here”. She embarrassed me infront of other customers by yelling and rolling her eyes at me. I wanted to scream at her but I have manners, I bit my tongue and said thank you. I was super polite I didn’t deserve to get...
