Kay jewelers lost my ring along with 17 others. I had ordered a custom wedding band that came back perfect but not soddered together like I had wanted. They had to ship it off to Texas to get soddered together and on the way back ups lost it. The employees acted like it had nothing to do with them when it was their negligence in the first place to not sodder it together. They rushed to get another custom band done for me and it came back 3 days before my wedding. When I got there to pick up the ring I realized it was a completely different design them I made. It had extra Diamond in it and the employees said I was lucky because it was worth more now. The worst part of it all though was the way they treated me. You think if there were 17 of your customers rings lost that as a manager you would have memorized their customers names and faces. Every single time we walked through the door we were unrecognized. Not to mention that the store was a mess with food scattered everywhere. I ended up returning my "custom" band and went to shamrock jewelers in Dubuque to get a new wedding ring altogether. It was. Such a shame how I had to feel about my ring around the time of my wedding when it's supposed to be such a wonderful time. I will never walk through that door again and I encourage everyone...
Read moreI bought some 1 carat diamond stud earrings and the sales associate said that they may go on sale in a couple weeks so I could possibly get more money off the price. She took my number and said she’d call me. I never heard from her but did go back during that sale period because the posts on my earrings were bent. I was appalled when she told me that she noticed they were bent when I first purchased them, however, she never mentioned it to me at all. She went on to say that she was going to call me because a new pair had just come in and she put them in the case. I’m not saying she’s a liar, but when you aren’t upfront about the defects from the beginning and say you’ll call when the sale starts and I don’t get a call but go in 6 days after said call was to take place to exchange or return the defected earrings, it doesn’t sit well with me. I will be looking to take my business where the customer is more important then the commission the sales associate is getting for the sale. Did I mention when I was looking I wasn’t even sure I wanted to spend that amount, and she said “I want to make a sale today.” My gut instinct was to wait and I wish I...
Read moreI lost a stone in my wedding band this week and called in and discuss options- spoke with Mike, He told me to bring it in and he’d get it all figured out and taken care of. My ring was purchased at JBR but since they closed I wasn’t sure what to do to have my ring serviced for years. When I called Mike assured me they could take care of everything and that everything transferred over to them- which was such a relief!!!!! Took my ring in the next day and he got it all taken care of and said after it comes back it’ll be up to date and the lifetime warranty will be good to go again! Totally worth the cost it was to replace the stone and get back on track with my warranty! My daughter desperately wanted a bear and he explained how the cost goes back to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital and that spoke volumes to the type of company Kay’s is. Michelle was kind enough to bag up her teddy so it didn’t get dirty on the ride home! Such an amazing experience to feel liked a valued customer! Our town is so lucky to have a jewelry store customers can feel confident shopping at!! Great job Mike...
