Novelty Iron Works — Attraction in Dubuque

The concept to these units is definitely nice & contemporary for the Dubuque area. However while staying here back in June for the American River Fest our unit over looked the other buildings in the area and unfortunately very close to the trains that pass through several times during the day & night. This typically wouldn’t be a problem however the trains are literally right outside of the building and there are currently no regulations on the whistle blowing that happens 24 seven.

I would give this place a 4 star except for the fact the trains kept us up all night and for the duration of our stay. We found out after checking out while letting management know about our concerns. That on the east side of the river they actually stopped the trains from blowing their whistles. This also needs to be addressed for the side where these buildings are. Last thing is they do offer complimentary breakfast in the lobby area it’s not managed at all and basically anyone can walk in and grab breakfast. Terrible experience living here (problems with management communication, roof that leaked over the majority of the 5th floor that was never fixed & more). Would not recommend living here.

I’m editing this years later because I feel like the review I left doesn’t do justice to how absolutely awful it was living in this building. I’m sure the staff they had has overturned many times since then, but they were absolutely awful. Rude, condescending, unhelpful. They didn’t fix things. Horrible living on the 2nd floor due to the wedding venue. Literally shaking the apartment so much things fell off tables. On the 5th floor the roof leaked and they never fixed it while I was there. Mold everywhere. Constant dripping into my bedroom and living room when it rained. The rooms had zero sound proofing, you could basically hear your neighbors on all sides, even if they...

Would not recommend living here. If you live above the events spaces, everything in your apartment will shake from the music. The interior courtyard hosts a sports bar with its own noise from the outdoor bar and big screen tv. The absolute worst feature is that the floors/ceilings are not water proof. So if your upstair’s neighbor spills anything or anything leaks above you, it will pour into your apartment. This happened 5 times over the course of 1.5 years for us.
