My prior review here seemed to have gotten shadow-banned - while I could still see the review nobody else could. I can only conclude that the owner of the Red Stone Inn somehow got Google to suspend it. As a Google Local Guide, this is not my first review and if one looks at my 100+ review history you will find that I have plenty of positive reviews posted. I had figured Google had suspended my review pending further review, but it's been over 6 weeks since that happened, and since I can find no way to directly contact Google about this, I have to conclude that it's just never going to be put back.
So I'm going to try again, this time much much shorter. I've saved the longer version, with plenty of supporting detail, in case anyone is interested. Yes, I'm doing this because it was THAT bad. To save space, I won't bother with the few good points it had; others have pointed those out.
Google's listing calls this a "3-star hotel". I cannot imagine any actual 3-star hotel would be caught using packing tape to deal with loose wallpaper.
Specific items:
THE PHONE IN THE ROOM DID NOT WORK. No dial tone.
Peeling wallpaper - frequently "patched" with transparent packing tape. I have pictures.
Cold water handle in bathroom sink came off in my hands.
Tub drain is broken.
In our suite, the ceiling has obvious water damage.
Seriously worn out furniture in the cupola.
Jacuzzi in our room would not aerate.
Wall plate for TV coax was pulled out of the wall hanging in the air with loose tape.
Building front steps are hazardous, partially blocked with yellow caution tape.
Scattered portable A/C units everywhere, string-and-duct-tape style.
A lace curtain in the common dining area was so frayed that it was being held together with paper clips.
Wifi was spotty and basically useless.
The TV could not receive any channels, as if the cable TV bill hadn't been paid.
Connected Apple TV box had a remote with a dead battery (cable to recharge it nowhere to be found).
Connected Apple TV box was basically useless as it was not authenticated to anything.
Bad attitude of server (probably the owner) during breakfast. The fact that the previous review I had posted has gone MIA would seem to reinforce this.
Supplied snacks in room were a joke.
I also took plenty of photographs - which had also been posted and apparently also shadow-banned by Google. Those are saved as well, should anyone...
Read moreWe travel a lot and stay at many places. We wanted a sample of a bed and breakfast and a more traditional stay while going to our Godchild's wedding. It is an older Victorian house with about 15 rooms, which does give breakfast. Here are a few items that need to be attended to to bring this facility up to par. The wallpaper in our room and the hallways were starting to peel away and instead of gluing, they put matching tape to hold it together, there were stains on the rugs in our room and holes in the carpet in the halls. On each floor, the fixtures, old as they be, did'nt have matching bulbs, or many bulbs were missing. So the lighting was off. The shower caulk in our bathtub was moldy. The left handle on the sink was loose and came off. The ceiling above our bed was patched and not repainted so there were two different colors. The chairs were antique, for the ambiance, but they could not be sat on. The owner needs to put more money into restoring this location. ||Also, communication with the bed and breakfast was different. Every time I would call, the owner would just text me. I had to get all the info, and codes to get into the place by text. It would have been nice to get this info ahead of time and maybe have a copy in the room as well as how to use the TV, because it was apple tv. Also, there is no AC in this old house, which we understood, but there were portable AC units in halls and rooms, we were hoping that the electric panels could take all of these plug ins, along with microwave and refrigerators in the rooms. No one is ever at the front desk, you can only text him to talk. Not personable, I understand because of covid, but we felt that we were let alone in the house with no one at the desk. He just told us that we can text if we need anything. I had to text and ask for my receipt after I got home.||||I probably would not stay here again. Needs work and better...
Read moreLet me start by saying this was our first experience staying at anything other than a hotel or motel but it looked so beautiful and historic we thought we’d give it a try. I spoke first to the owner letting him know what time we may arrive. We got there at 4:45 p.m. and ran a bell for service and apparently got him out of bed. He proceeded to tell me I should’ve done the self check-in. Sorry we woke him up. My husband and I went for dinner and at 7:00 were in our room getting ready to relax. I was fine with all the wallpaper peeling off walls and stained bleached spotted carpet because I realized the age of this building. Well, no working tv. I called the owner (woke him up again) who couldn’t get internet service to work the tv box. He left and came back with a Roku box. Finally got tv to work for about an hour before it went out again. We gave up and tried to get some sleep. About 3:00 a.m. I woke up to what sounded like a mouse in the room. By 3:45 we were clear it was a bat flying over our bed. We opened our door, crawled on the floor to our phone, called the owner again. He conveniently showed up with a nice little black net and after 20 minutes got the bat. He expected we’d just go back to bed like he did. I sent him a message telling him we were leaving and expected some kind of compensation. We headed out in a horrible storm for our 4 hour drive home. The owner didn’t even respond to my message addressing anything. So much for a lovely 28 year...
