A cute little pottery painting shop located in the heart of downtown Duluth! We didn't make reservations (2 people), just walked in and wanted to have some fun art time. Staffs were attentive and answered all of our questions. They also offer wine glass + canvas painting and I saw some people brought in their own alcohols so it's BYOB i think (just double check again with them). They have a variety of pottery selections for you to choose from: ornaments, cups, plates, decor items, etc. Prices vary depends on the pottery figure that you pick: ranging from $10 to around $100 (highest price that I could remember). Ours were $28 for the plate and $26 for the mug. They have those Xmas trees that they will attach lights into them for you after glazing (a little bit on the pricier side, maybe $50-80 but I think it's gonna be worth it!!!) Paint fees are already included and come in unlimited amount of fills (some special types of paint would cost $3 extra but I think their basic options are already good!). You would paint your item, leave it there for them to glaze and come back in 7-10 days to pick it up. I think the idea is really cool and this place is a wholesome date spot, family/friends hangout! We came on a new year's eve weekend (as a couple date) and we saw many parents taking their kids there, other couple dates and friends hangouts. Will definitely come back to for those Xmas trees one day.
They have a separate locations not too far down the road for groups/birthday parties if you want to book a reservation for big groups.
*Will update the [after] pictures once I pick up the glazed...
Read moreWhat a gem! Our team had a clay mug workshop here and it was a great experience and we can’t wait to see our finished projects in a few weeks. I highly recommend doing a class with this studio. You can bring in drinks & snacks and they personalize the classroom signage to make your experience even more special. After the team workshop, I stayed back and selected a pottery piece to paint in their retail location (separate from the classroom). All of the employees are knowledgeable and attentive (they’re not just cashiers looking bored and sitting around like a lot of businesses in general). The ladies there were friendly and made themselves available the whole time I was painting and also readily helped the other Customers and whoever walked in. Their selection of pottery to paint is impressive and they’re not all cutesy or childish which is what I have run into in the past at other pottery painting studios. While there are kid friendly designs/pieces, there are a TON of items that are tasteful and would make a great gift or decoration in your home. Painting there is very relaxing and intuitive. They provide everything and it’s such a great price for not only the piece you’ll take home (in about a week, after it’s fired) but also for the 2.5-4 hour experience that comes with it. If you don’t finish painting (which is what happened to me), you can take your piece and come back the next day or any day they’re open later - there’s not a rush or time limit. The shop itself is so incredibly charming and you’ll just love every minute there, highly...
Read moreWe did my son’s fifth birthday at Eye Candy and it was the best time! I was worried because it was the first “drop your kids off” party and I was worried about managing 10 five year olds. From the moment we walked in, they had an activity on the table for kids to do while waiting for everyone to arrive… they all decorated their paper bag that their pottery would come home in. It kept them occupied while waiting for everyone to arrive! After that, the kids got to pick from 1 of 6 different boxes to paint and the instructor did a great job explaining all the steps of painting in kid friendly language. The whole thing was extremely organized! There were two tables for food and gifts. We brought a few party decorations, but it was decorated so cute already that we didn’t end up using them. One little thing that I wasn’t quite prepared for was that the kids painted really fast, so we finished up about 30 minutes early and then I needed to get the kids out of the room with a bunch of breakable pottery, so we walked over to the Duluth playground which was PERFECT! All in all, I was overly impressed with the management, organization, and friendliness… they run it like a well...
