The northern access point to Willard Munger State Trail (near Lake Superior Zoo) is quite confusing as it is actually an access point to three different trails. Once you’ve figured out the right trail, it is paved and very scenic. There is a little log shelter at about the 4 mile mark which came in very handy when we encountered a downpour. We also did the Carlton access point which was even more scenic. The Carlton access point had views of rock formations and water from an old railroad trestle.

Amazing trail, Minnesota never disappoints when it comes to trails. We biked from the trailhead in Duluth to the trailhead in Carlton and back. The active infrastructure was incredible and even in the areas with construction they gave alternative routes. Would highly recommend.

This is an excellent place to access the Munger Trail. It's a paved trail through beautiful trees and there are portions with rock walls. Highly recommended for biking as well as walking. There are unpaved hiking trails connecting to it. Fun for all ages.

Beautiful location to go for a walk, run, bike, roller skate, scooter, etc. A nicely paved trail, and option to hike on rough terrain. Very nice scenery along the way with a pond, and river. We even seen a turtle in the pond, from the trail. If you're looking for a nice place to go this is a great option. You can go on a straight flat path, or a hill and curve path. Either way, you will enjoy the scenery. Also very easy to find, as it is off a...

Beautiful trail to walk, paved. Good for bikes, rollerblading, walking, skateboarding, and walking or running. It's an old train line that once ran from Duluth to Hinckley. It's been paved and made into the recreational trail. It has bridges that go over the new rail line, roads, and rivers/creeks. It's a beautiful trail to explore, definitely...
