I have visited Argyle in the past with a friend who was a member and loved it. I wanted to bring a friend, but this time I had a not so pleasant experience (maybe because I am not a âmemberâ) and I made the reservations.
Previous to visiting, I emailed Argyle to let them know I was taking my friend in town that would be able to wine taste, but because I am pregnant - I wasnât able to drink, but I would be happy to buy the charcuterie plate - in which I reserved the plate for us when booking. Argyle did respond saying they had non alcoholic options and I could reserve the cheese board, and that it was fine for me to come. (I get itâs a winery, so I wanted to be considerate too of the place letting them know I couldnât drink)
Anyways, today the service was not great. When I arrived, I was seated 20-30 minutes after my reservation. My friend ordered some wine and I was served sparkling water. When I mentioned I was pregnant and had reserved the charcuterie board in advance - she responded that they didnât have any food available 𤨠- which was weird - as I reserved it, emailed, was told it was available, even booked the charcuterie board at check out.
Had I know what I reserved for us both wasnât available, we would have went somewhere else.
Also, The server only offered me sparkling water once in the hour and 30 minutes we were there. My friend was not impressed either - she bought a bottle of wine - but the server didnât really explain anything about it.
Sad experience considering I loved the first time. I get maybe they were upset because I couldnât buy more; but at least serve food or snacks or something - or more beverages you mentioned in your email I could buy.
Anyways, not sure if Iâll be coming back again with friends anytime soon- seems like the expectations versus what was delivered...
Read moreI am a wine club member and cannot recommend their wines highly enough for fantastic Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines especially! The club is a great value and you get exclusive access to certain bottles throughout the year. We give Argyle wines for corporate gifts with the help of David, who reached out to us personally and offered to help curate orders and wine boxes for our clients.
The new tasting room reservations can be a bit confusing for folks who are used to walking in off the street to a tasting room in Oregon wine country. In the last year, it has been so busy on most days they have to take reservations. It is especially necessary on weekends, warm months, or holidays such as Christmas/holiday, Mother's or Father's day in particular.
If you can't figure out the online reservation system, just call their number or use their online chat option and they will walk you through how to secure a table for a leisurely tasting. If you just walk in, you may find all tables are reserved and be disappointed.
I have always had great luck with the staff who are more than knowledgeable about the wines, regions, and best year for the vintage you like. When we went in on a Saturday to pick up our wine club bottles, we had a tasting with our pup (dogs are welcomed if they are well behaved and on a leash, they even bring them water bowls). Our server had a few extra pours for us to taste two wine club exclusive bottles that we purchased on the spot for our favorite clients!
Overall, this is a wonderful tasting room with exceptional wine and the club membership is really lovely for stocking your cellar with delicious...
Read moreThe service was terrible. We had a large group of 12, with a reservation. They informed us that we all had to order the same since we were a big group. Since this was the most expensive of the wineries, it made it extremely disappointing as with 12 people everyone was interested in something different. No big deal though, we were there for a bachelorette party we let the bride pick. However, the server who wasnât very friendly to begin with (Christian) let us know that he would go figure it out. Any other woman returned who let us know that they were going to âpassâ on our party. They were not willing to serve us anymore since we had already visited 2 Wineries before there. Now we were riding together in a van with a driver that we paid for for the wine tour. We hadnât even had a full glass of wine and had already had lunch after the last stop. Very sad to treat people like that. It was 3 in the afternoon and we are grown adults. It was disheartening to be treated this way, since we were there to buy bottles to take home but Christian (insert sarcasm here) was very kind to let us know that they donât offer bottle service, before anyone asked. We were there for the wine tasting and have a good day, unfortunately this definitely ruined the mood of what was a great day! I am wondering if we werenât upper class enough to fit their needs, or what their problem was. However we are good paying customers and donât judge a book by their cover. Will never recommend this establishment or purchase any of their products, as you donât stay in business with those types of employees, or...
