This museum has (or had) numerous curators. Perhaps I am confusing it with: Indian Territory Art Gallery, but that is Janie Umsted, extensively prominent. in fact her art is displayed through the town. I was told by her decades ago that decades before that the original Durant High School (Boys And Girls Club) a time that Cedar Street was not blocked off. Two campuses were on each side of the street. When they blocked off Cedar Street, I misunderstood the breeze ways and court yards built between the two practically split level buildings was the location of Cedar Street. According to Historic Aerials, the area where Mrs. Umsted's classrooms were located is just a wing. There was a building, much larger, and further south, that was cleared in the ... late 1950s? mid 1960s? Why was this building cleared? Was it built in the 1800s? And what did this building look like? Certainly Three Valley Museum has information. Also regarding Three Valley Museum itself. Is this the same place that had a giant mural of a Native American face outside of the building? It was painted on the north side of the "Carpenters Machine Shop" (a place filled with beautiful antique cars) which is a taller two storey with freight elevator building towards the back, thus able to see only the eyes, which was frightening, especially at night ... considering that Three Valley Museum is located not far from several rail lines. Also I do not know how a website can be filled with several information yet be practically blank at...
Read moreFirst, I was born in Durant Oklahoma 1965. I have always loved visiting Durant. Unfortunately, today I witnessed another side of personal in Durant. I was treated very poorly by the receptionist at the Museum. I didn't have enough cash to pay for admission and requested to pay by card and they don't have a credit card machine for paying customers . Immediately, her attitude towards me and my 100 percent disabled brother changed to an attitude of not caring if we visited or not. I will never recommend that place to any of my family members, who were planning to visit me this summer. Also, there is a posted review here that says adult admissions are "FREE". Now I am...
Read moreVery nice. Lots of memobilia on 2 stories. Wish they had more information on the items. Most of the items are simply displayed with the person's name that donated them and what timeframe it was from. I didn't know what a lot of the items were or what they were used for. Need more information displayed. I have been to a lot of museums and this one is good, but for the out of town guests, it is lacking...
