My friend and I came in today and there was ONE girl that was hopping, trying to accommodate everyone, and with a very humble and kind attitude. I’d give her ten stars for her hustle and her integrity. The reason for the one star on service was that there were four employees standing at the register just talking amongst themselves. One of them finally goes over and cleans a table, BUT there were four tables of new customers sitting and waiting to be greeted…no drinks, no menus, no acknowledgement. That dirty table shouldn’t have been the priority in this circumstance. Then one of the others started restocking straws…again…where is the customer service first? The other two just continued talking and shooting the breeze. When the one girl who was carrying the whole place all by herself came over with menus, apologizing for our long wait because she’s the only one, we asked who the four just hanging at the counter were. She sheepishly responded, “Well, they just came on, it’s ok, they’ll come around.” We told her it wasn’t ok, and it was just wrong that they weren’t supporting her and taking care of business. She apologized for them and asked us to not let it reflect the establishment. This girl was young but she had a work ethic! If I were the manager, I’d have fired those four just watching her carry them, I was appalled.
I love this place and love the food. I’ve never seen this happen here before, and I would hate to see them lose business because of a 20 minute wait when there’s no excuse for it, staff was there, but they weren’t present!
Oh and they were out of the baked potatoes…bummer. I can’t say enough but the one girl who cared and did it with a...
Read moreWhat a great experience! Went in and was greeted in a timely manner by our server, Austin. He was very kind and attentive the whole time we were there, despite taking care of his other tables as well. The two others I was with ordered the Big Pig Plate (a "sampler" plate), which is around $40, and I ordered a Three Pigs Plate as well for around $17, because I wasn't sure if there would be enough for all three of us. Boy was I wrong!
The Big Pig Plate would have been more than enough for all three of us! It has a portion of pretty much all the meats they have to offer, including the brisket, ham, ribs, three different types of sausage, chicken, turkey, pulled pork, and probably a few others, plus three sides! My Three Pigs Plate had ribs, pulled pork, and some Pineapple sausage that was honestly some of the best sausage I've ever had!
All the meats and sides were cooked to perfection. Nothing was overlooked or had too much smokey flavor (something a lot of barbecue places tend to do).
The barbecue sauce is Oklahoma local favorite Head Country. There was a "mild" and "smokey" bottle on the table, and they also have a "hot available upon request. It is so delicious! It is semi-sweet and smokey like a good barbecue sauce should be. They also have an option to purchase some to take home (you can also buy it online, I believe).
Overall, our visit was so great that we've decided to go back before we head back to Mississippi. If you're in the area, I highly suggest Main Street...
Read moreThis is a medium sized restaurant with booths down the sides and tables in the middle. On the Saturday afternoon we visited it was about a third full, with most of the booths empty.
Our service was friendly throughout and almost always attentive. It got a bit slow at one point but there was a friendly apology and we were in no hurry.
We shared the Big Pig plate and it was enormous with plenty of everything. We used all three of their sauces, liking the Smokey the best but I really enjoyed their spicy sauce as well.
The corn was boiled but fine. The roles were nothing special. The beans were fine as well.
But the meats, the meats were amazing! I'm a huge fan of ribs and their ribs were tender, with just a bit of crust. And so delicious. There were two kinds of pork, with the pulled pork being the stand out. The turkey was what you would expect. The brisket was really good.
But the sausage was the break away winner. One was spicy the other tame. Both delicious, I couldn't get enough.
We ended things with the banana pudding, which was a nice sweet treat after the savory saltiness of the meats.
We left stuffed. Really stuffed. We don't live in the area, but if we're anywhere close,...
