One of the last left traditional and fun parks in Durham. Everything else is being made accessible for a small minority of disabled children by replacing entire playground features with flat platforms with knobs and clickers, and short slides. Monkey bars, tall slides, climbing and jumping features are being removed affecting hundreds of thousands of children in surrounding areas. Bicycle paths are being closed off or filled in with wood chips.

There is even a small stage. Birch Park is the example of planning when people care about the children who are going to play there unlike another favorite Durham Central Park this part has plenty of tree cover to Shield the slides from the hot sun of Summer. I really appreciate the fact that the park has a gate entrance to prevent any little ones from acciventally wandering towards the road.
