Michaels — Attraction in East Hanover

This place is kinda crazy. I normally don’t write reviews cause I’m a pretty passive person but this place rubbed me wrong. Let me paint a picture. I cannot for gods sake figure out who runs this place mainly because when I go here the workers are almost never on the floor and extremely unhelpful; it’s hard to pick out who runs the place. They’re also kinda rude, one of the workers didn’t even greet me when she was staring right at me and I was the one who asked her how she was and after she didn’t bother to ask me. I would understand if these were teenagers but these are fully grown adults who don’t care about how they’re coming off. One of the workers in particular rubbed me wrong because I asked her why they couldn’t bypass the pin on my debit card and she claimed it was a policy all Michaels had. That’s a lie. I’ve been to many Michaels and not one has done this. The employees don’t know what half the supplies are that I’m talking about and this is just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t know, maybe I’m old school but if you have a job you’re supposed to put in at least the bare minimum. I’m gen z but even I know that a job doesn’t translate to “stand around all day and do nothing.” I really hope they get better management here, or don’t, whatever floats your dysfunctional sinking life raft. I usually love going to Michaels. Especially for holiday decor! I'm going to assume the store is in a transition phase because it was bare and messy. There was nobody on the floor when we needed help. The girl at the register was rushing and making mistakes. She put 8 LARGE JAR CANDLES IN ONE BAG!!!! She didn't even wrap them individually! We had to ask her to double bag. Every time I tried getting her attention to stop bagging, she either didn't hear me or ignored me! We had to bag them better once we got to the car. My other bag she just threw the stuff in so it literally ripped 8". Stuff was falling out. She ran away from the register as soon as she handed me the receipt. She was talking about door dash with someone so I guess her lunch had been delivered. I'll go back but maybe to a different location. Positive...

Would give a zero star if that is an option. Would never visit this store again because of rude and unprofessional staff. Check out process is a nightmare. The staff stay at the first check out desk not doing anything but chatting.Two of them even hang out at exit door, making it so tough for customers to exit after shopping. They say as long as you have a credit card, they do not help you check out but you have to do it yourself. When the scanner does not work and you ask for assistance, they say they are not the technician to fix the machines. This store is so funny. If no staff is going to help with anything at the check out desk, what are their job responsibilities? Being mean to consumers? Such a sad and awful experience shopping here.
