Mattress Firm East Hanover — Hotel in East Hanover

Unfortunately a little disappointed on my most recent experiences with Mattress Firm. Up until my latest experience, I had purchased 10 beds through Donald since about 2020 who was fantastic and I was overwhelmingly satisfied with my experience. We have three young/growing kids and were furnishing a vacation home – hence all the beds. A few weeks ago, my family and I went to the store to purchase our 11th bed and unfortunately Donald was busy with other customers so we worked with another associate. The experience was not as favorable as before. I purchased a king-sized premium line Beautyrest model that ultimately was on sale (had a price adjustment since I initially paid full price). While this other associate was helpful and courteous, he would not honor my wife’s teacher’s discount of 20% on top of the sales price despite Mattress Firm’s website stating the discount is “applied to listed sale prices”. Now I am not an attorney and could be wrong here, but it seems fairly clear. Not to mention we realized this discount could only be used once so we saved it for this 11th purchase knowing it would be most expensive. This would have saved us ~$460 which is considerable for most of us.

The second issue was with delivery. When the boxspring was installed, one of the delivery guys dragged it across our brand-new bed frame (from pottery barn that we had been saving for) and scratched the top of the natural wooden footboard. He should have worked with his colleague to place the boxspring into the bedframe with all hands, but instead they were clearly in a rush. While I pointed out the damage, the crew was notably unfriendly and hastily left. My wife and I were so upset and are now paying ~$125 or more for a visit by the Furniture Medic...

The salesman was, IMHO, very unprofessional and reminded me of old tales about how used car salesmen operated

I walked into the store expecting to purchase mattresses and bed foundations which were advertised as Black Friday specials. The salesman proceeded to tell my partner and me that what we were looking at was "garbage". For instance, the Black Friday adjustable frame (which was free with purchase of a Queen bed) was made from "cardboard" and would "fall apart" as soon as it was used. I should point out that the specs said this frame supported 700 pounds of weight. When I noted that I did not want to purchase the items he suggested, he promptly reduced the price and pointed out how much money I was saving. What he neglected to do was to give me the deeply discounted Black Friday prices on the items I wanted.

After placing an order, I went home and contacted an online agent who gave me the corrected prices. However, the online agent refused to place the order because I had already ordered locally (it doesn't make sense to me that I would not be allowed to place two orders in one day). When I contacted the local salesman, he reduced the price, but not before trying to get me to change my mind by telling me that the items sold online were poorly constructed. Eventually, he also agreed to remove the platinum delivery (albeit at a discounted price) which I did not want.

I was so frustrated to have to fight over every item I wanted, that I didn't insist on getting my $40 in-store coupon (or the $50 online coupon). I spent over one hour online, but the result was a reduction of my bill by more than $1400. I will never return to this store again, and I wonder if this salesman represents the attitude of all the sales staff at...

Wow, our experience at this Mattress Firm was amazing. Usually, buying a mattress can be a little distressing because of the bad rep that mattress sales people/stores have. BUT Donald, the store manager at this location, was phenomenal. We felt welcomed in the store as soon as we stepped in. The staff in there made sure that we were greeted and being taken care of (some stores will literally have people ignore you, not the case here.)

Anyways, we were in the midst of looking for a new mattress during our transition to the West Coast. We were looking for a bed that we could try and test, then order at this location to be shipped where we were going. We stumbled upon the Purple Hybrid Mattress (THE ABSOLUTE BEST MATTRESS MONEY CAN BUY) and we just knew that we had to buy it. We told Donald our situation and he diligently searched the mattress firm locations in the area we were moving to. Unfortunately, none of the stores carried it. So he did a little more searching and found a KING size mattress for less than the price of a Queen. I must admit, we were skeptical at first because clearance mattress are returns. I asked Donald more about it, and he was very knowledgable about the process and put my mind to ease by giving me an EVEN BETTER DEAL than the already sale price.

Fast forward 3 months later, we've had no issues with the mattress, it sleeps great, and it was an absolute bargain. 10/10 recommend this Mattress...
