HearthSide Norman Berry — Attraction in East Point

UPDATE: Since my first review my mom and I have since been back to this location for a proper interview. It was explained to us what happened and unfortunately, where the handicap button is to open the doors is not in the best spot and you can clearly miss it if you are not aware that it is there b/c it isn’t close to the doors.

Anyhoo, the tour of this place was nice. However compared to some other senior living places it doesn’t offer as many actives or amenities. It is an older establishment, so I get it, but it is overdue for a renovation. The lady who showed us around was nice and informative.

Decor is also dated. I don’t know why ppl who design these places think seniors like old dark heavy decor. Even for this establishment being almost 20yrs old, it still seems to be very dated for that time period. We were told that they should be doing some reno in the near future, so I truly hope that is the case. The apts are nice and roomy I just don’t know why they made 2 bdrms with only 1 full bathroom not even an extra half a bath. However, for now if they have vacancy, it will do for my mom b/c they don’t have the sliding scale when it comes to rent. So she doesn’t have to reapply and have her rent possibly go up, so that’s great. Only other thing I am not fond of is they don’t allow pets, and sometimes my mom doggy sits for me when I am out of town, but now she will just have to stay at my house whenever I need her to keep my doggy, which sucks b/c I work a lot out of town and she won’t be able to stay in the comforts of her own home like before to watch my dog who is only 10lbs.

With all that being said, it is a decent place with the basics. All the apartments are located in one huge bldg which I am also a bit weary about but not a huge deal. Once they do some upgrades to brighten up the place more and hopefully add more amenities I’m sure it will be nice. My mom and I are still looking, however she is own the waiting list just in case something come open, since most place are either full or on a rent increasing scale. (Which makes no sense for seniors on fixed income). So that is a big plus with this place, b/c it doesn’t have that Thank God!

OLD REVIEW: I can’t speak on living here I can only speak on my experience on trying to get a tour for my mom. We spoke with a young lady yesterday about coming for a visit that day and was told they couldn’t give us a tour until today, so we scheduled for a tour for 2p on today (8/28/24) and when we arrived you couldn’t get into the main office. The box to call was inside the from door to the office so I called the number posted on the door and the answering service came on as if it were after business hours, but it wasn’t after business hours. I began to knock and bang on the door to see if anyone could hear, b/c there was a second set of doors as well, but no one came. My mom even went to call as if were calling to get in the gate and the answering service came on there as well.

Although through the site this place looks really nice and well organized, it doesn’t seem to have good management. There was noting to say if they had stepped away or if anyone was inside. And the fact that we scheduled a tour and no one answered is not a good impression. So now my mom and I are skeptical about this being a place she would...

I had to delete my previous comment in order to make a new one. My mother has been living here for 2 yrs now my grandmother lived in the community when it was first built and we loved it However now there's a new maintenance older guy brown skin slender that's very unprofessional that's has been harassing us everytime we come pick my mom up he comes up to our car telling us we need to park and we can't pick up someone that lives and pays rent on time in front of the door We've never had an issue before he got here we're not blocking anyone we're in the designated area for pick up yet still he finds his way to make an issue with the guest several other residents have complained about him because he's causing unnecessary issues He threats to get your car towed There aren't any signs stating that you can't pick up someone in front of the doors that the residents come out of. Last time I checked this is exactly where you pick them up and wait for them it's a senior residence.This is very disappointing because he's going around taking pictures of people license plate which is illegal and I'm going to file a police report on him because he's causing trouble and before things get out of hand I'll need to make sure these incidents are reported for mines and my mother's protection she shouldn't have to have her guest harassed at her residence. I hope he tooked these people info please review...

Great place to live, but the light bill are high because they have their own electrical service. Watch out for my new review soon. Management have an attitude problem and don't treat the residents as they deserve. Not very friendly towards the residents. God is not Mark for whatsoever a man soweth that is what he also shall reap. This is prophecy through the word of God. Just be careful how you are treating the residents it will come back according to God will. The least you do unto mine you have already done it unto me. Let God be true and every man a lie.
