I tend to not review places but this was too egregious for me to simply keep quiet.
First off, my group had waited one hour thirty minutes to get into the trail. This wasn’t entirely surprising, as we had purchased normal tickets, but it was still a very long wait. This wouldn’t have been an issue, however, if the actual experience was good. It was not.
The walk through the trail felt incredibly rushed. We were constantly pressured to keep moving and to move quickly, and we ended up clearing the full trail at a power walk. The group had even gotten separated at one point, but with all the pressure to keep moving, waiting for them to catch up didn’t really feel like an option. I understand why this was, as there was a big line and closing time was coming up, but it still detracted severely from the overall experience. If you use an inefficient system of letting one party in at a time for maximum immersion, then you should expect to be running low on time. Additionally, if you are using the aforementioned inefficient system, it doesn’t make much sense to then try and move your customers efficiently, as that breaks the immersion you sacrificed so much to create. You cannot do both. You will get all of the cons, and none of the pros.
Despite all of this, I would not have written this review if not for this final offense, and that was our interactions with whom I presume to be the owner. He had come up to my group, a group of teenagers mind you, and was complaining about his workers to us. He said that he wrote the checks, and thus was the boss and should be listened to. He also said, and I quote, “Those three [actors] over there aren’t even worth my watch” before showing off his $20,000 Rolex. I feel that this situation speaks for itself, and I also cannot understate how uncomfortable we had felt in this moment.
To give credit, some of the actors were quite good, though some seemed (understandably) exhausted, and were the highlight of the experience.
Overall, I would not return to nor would I recommend Dark New England’s Haunted Trail, as there was a lengthy wait, we were rushed through, and we had very uncomfortable interactions...
Read moreI really had high hopes for this Haunt, especially hearing all the wonderful reviews. I am a huge Haunted House fan and was a bit disappointed with this experience. First off I purchased VIP tickets, which claimed to let you have a shorter wait. It was a 30 minute wait to just check in and then the VIP line was 1.5 hours, so a total of 2 hour wait. That is just way too long of a wait, especially when you pay extra money to shorten that wait. The General Admission line actually moved faster than the VIP line. I honestly feel if there was timed admissions and a cap on how many people can enter at each time that would help the line wait. There was also not a lot of entertainment while waiting in the 2 hour line. One guy came out with a chainsaw every 10-15 minutes but it got old after a while. An army guy would also walk by the line but was not very interactive. The Haunted Trail only took 15 minutes to get through. It was just not worth the time we waited in line. The haunted trail was overall decent but there were not enough scares or actors. Several times actors would move to a different scene so you were seeing the same actor. Some actors would just scream at you and that got to be too much. There were places that would have been perfect for a jump scare but that didn't happen. There were some cool special effects like the Acid Lake and chainsaw guy against the strobe light background. We also really liked the actress that repeated everyone. The Zombie prison was also a hit. Also the fog and smoke got to be a bit too much. One of the people in our group was coughing for 20 minutes after he got out. Unfortunately we will not be coming back to this Haunt...
Read moreAs Someone who as worked with many haunts over the years in different capacities (Haunted Cornfield in Berkley & Lakeville Haunted House where I volunteered). At other attractions I have been hired to help with the sound tracks or DJ for guests arriving to enter the haunt. I have to say the Harrisons Brain never stops. From a volunteer side of things, it feels like a big family affair.
As someone who enjoys things like this from time to time, like these attractions as well as horror movies, I have to say that in just 2 short years I am impressed by all the details that go into each and every scene.. Not a single spot has been left empty this year. There is not many haunts in New England that you can do something like this under the stars.
On the nights I am there I hear things from people who have gone thru and let the actor at the end know what scene was the best, who was the best actor and like, over the opening weekend each person had there own favorite scenes however it sounded like they enjoyed it all, in there own ways.
There are a few surprises throughout that even myself being a season haunted attraction volunteer, I said to myself that's never been done before will it work and can it be pulled off. Now there is no doubt when implemented in just the right way anything is possible...
Harrison you are a one of a kind person that your mind is able to come up with wonderful place to rebirth the Lakeville Haunted House and for those guest that come there is a little something for them. A hidden gem I never thought I would ever see again and talking with a fellow actor we both said the same thing, It brought tears to...
