I’m always big fan of Costco, Edison NJ for its large selection of items, competitive pricing, and convenience, including an on-site gas station and liquor section. (honestly busiest Costco store in New Jersey in my opinion) However, many occasions we note that the store can get extremely busy and crowded, especially on weekends. Positives from exploring customer Large selection: Many people, including myself appreciate the massive inventory, which includes a notable selection of wine and liquor not found at all other Costco locations in New Jersey. Specialty groceries: The Edison location offers a variety of Asian and Indian grocery products (About 4 types of organic daal, ghee, paneer and best Nam-keens and Indian deserts (more items available during Diwali season)that are not always available at other warehouses. Good prices: with our Frequent shopping we can consistently mention the competitive pricing and great deals on both bulk items and other products like many Costco’s. Efficient checkout: While lines can be long, many times the checkout process moves quickly, especially with the use of self-checkout and employees assisting with cart scanning. Helpful employees: Some times we found specific employees or departments, like Optical, who provide attentive and friendly service. Pharmacy staff can be very helpful but not always patient Criticisms Crowds and parking: Overwhelming crowds, particularly on weekends, are a common complaint. This also leads to a busy and chaotic parking lot. Very hard to find parking Tire Center service: Multiple customers report significant delays and poor communication from the Tire Center, with long waits for both installations and repairs during one of the visit. Inconsistent customer service: While some times we have great experiences with staff, other times employees who are rude or unhelpful particularly if we are trying to find an item or price to an item Produce quality: our recent experience is concern over a decline in the quality of fresh produce, with items reportedly spoiling quickly and often seen less in quantity than they were before. Tighter aisles: you note that the layout feels more crowded than other Costco locations, with more pallets packed into the aisles.
Being said, it’s sometimes hard adventure to shop around Edison Costco from getting into parking to getting out of the parking and sometimes it’s a bit good vibe to be inside during...
Read moreSave your membership money and go to BJ's or Sams Club instead. Less headache, better checkout experience, and you can actually get to customer service. Lines are super long regardless of which day you go. I've tried weekdays at various times. It's very crowded in the store. You can barely walk and browse. Good luck seeing customer service if you ever need to. They have long lines as well that never seem to move. There's a line to get in because they have a person checking if you have a card. There's a line to get out as everyone who checks out forms a "line" to show their receipt to staff as they exit. Super ridiculous process! I can't find anything in the store, especially if it's posted as a discount item. They purposely hide it, and it's not in the aisle where it's supposed to be. Example, I was lookIng for the 4 pack ketchup/mustard condiment which wasnt in the ketchup aisle. I asked the staff where it is. He pointed to one direction and said it could be there. Then he pointed in the opposite direction and said it could also be there. Thirdly, he also said, check the aisle ends as the promotional items are often there. I had already walked 3 aisles looking for this in the ketchup area where you would think it would be. I wasn't about to walk around in a super crowded store. I walked out. There are carts laying around so it makes it even tougher to walk in an already tight space. Other shoppers are oblivious to their surroundings and don't care to step to one side but instead block entire aisles with their carts at angles or their carts on one side and their kids/bodies on the other side. Finding parking is tough and just like inside the stores, the drivers tend to block both sides of the road as it's all an only me society and they only care about blocking both sides so they can make whoever is behind them wait while they wait for a car to leave so they can park near the front.
Costco discounts aren't all that great, especially for the terrible experience. They need to extend the hours or limit the amount of shoppers. It's just a...
Read moreWent through Costco tire shop in Edison New Jersey for four new tires on my 2008 Chevy suburban. Price for the tires were on par with every other online retailers so I thought this would’ve been a no-brainer. Boy was I wrong? Had a 3:15 appointment on a weekday So I figured I’d walk around for a little bit and do some shopping while they install the tires. So no mention online when I order the tires and set up the appointment about the tire pressure monitoring system being available for purchase at the tire shop. So trying to stay ahead of the game I purchased four new tire sensors from Chevy… Mind you official Chevy parts, not aftermarket so they were pricey and non-returnable. And here comes the bullshit…. Costco will not install tire pressure monitoring sensors that they do not directly sell to you. And that is nowhere mentioned on their website when you set up the appointment, The guy at the counter informed me that he would try to see if his guy in the back could link up their computer to calibrate them and then install them. Well, two hours later at 5 o’clock I get a phone call. We’re just now pulling your truck into the bay and we will not install them. I left my cart in Costco walked over to the tire center and asked to speak with a gentleman explaining that these are a genuine Chevy parts and that I would Relinquish them of any liability of installing them and I would even pay the installation fee. What a hassle now I have to pay someone to remove the tires, install the tire sensors and then reinstall the tire and balance them. Talk about corporate, nickel, and Diming you. Never mind wasting two hours of nonproduction time Because they were shortstaffed. Don’t waste your time at Costco go across the street at the Walmart tire center. Those people are more professional than Costco and they will install and calibrate aftermarket tire pressure monitoring system. Very disappointed at Costco I will never get tires...
