Great place as always! I don't live in this area but drive 45mins to get here. Why? Well...where to start...#1 people respect the rules. The small dog park is for dogs under 25lbs and almost always, people go into their correct area. So...my dog is EXTRA happy to go to THIS park. She gets anxiety when bigger dogs are near her and we never have a problem here. #2 well equipped! Poop bags are always in stock. Gotta appreciate those little things that are sometimes forgotten. Most everyone picks up poop when they notice. Bowls are provided all over and there's a hose and water fountains that can refill the bowls for those thirsty babies. Some toys are provided but with all of the playful fun when other dogs are around, it's almost isn't quite needed. #3 Land!! Plenty of space for them to get a good run in! I mean...it isn't cluttered with a bunch of equipment that dogs don't use. Just good land! There's also a space under a canopy for their moms and dads to sit under. I mean...this place is well thought out. Im so grateful. We've been to a few dog parks in NJ as a whole and my furbaby LOVES this very simple one. Also, we get some super cool folks that like to run around the dog park for exercise.. Well...that's always a good thing! My baby and most others will run along the gate chasing and barking at the runner 😄. Not only does the person get a good workout...but so do the dogs! A 2 in 1 for sure!! #4 there is a playground right on the other side of the small dog park. Another 2 for 1. Kids can play while the dogs get their play in as well. It's literally a great park! We LOVE it!! Mommy and...
Read moreA dog park is not a good setting for dogs ever, and in this particular place it is especially concerning. It was the site of a factory in the late 60's to the mid 70's - where a fire eventually ruined the property in many ways. There were unsafe chemicals introduced into the ground and the site was eventually taken over by the ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. The rumour was that there were chemicals - possibly the ingredients for agent orange - released into the environment. We saw the guys in the white hazmat suits. I dont care how safe they say that place is I would never bring anyone - human or canine - to this potentially dangerous site. Dont believe me, research this, look it up, ask questions. Even if it wasn't true, why would anyone take a prime price of real estate and turn it into a 'dog park'? I grew up in that area, saw that fire personally. I had friends who saw the rotting chemical barrels and puddles of white bubbly goo. I heard of quite a few incidents of cancer in that neighborhood years later although reports were to the contrary. Think about Flint, Michigan and the loads of other ommissions and lies told to the public. And dont say it cannot happen here,...

HISTORY: The Chemical Insecticide Corporation Superfund was here from 1954 to 1970. The facility’s operations and waste handling practices led to extensive soil, sediment and groundwater contamination. Cleanup activities included controlling contaminated runoff, addressing soil and sediment in off-site creek areas, and cleaning up soil, surface water and groundwater. Cleanup finished in 2005. Long-term groundwater monitoring is ongoing. Edison Township purchased the site property in 2008. The Metuchen-Edison Community Dog Park is located on site. The park opened to the public in June 2016. Groundwater monitoring has indicated that contaminants of concern such as metals, pesticides, herbicides, semi volatile organic compounds, and to a lesser extent, volatile organic compounds remain within the...
