Look at the hours I have spent on the phone, on hold or being switched between BOA call agents. This is in the past 24 hours. I am only trying to close a checking account that has a balance of 0$. It was opened last month and due to already poor customer support I am closing it.
I am still unable to close out the account. On the phone 3 times with three different BOA agents (1 supervisor) I have verbally verified myself with my SSN, phone number, address, place of work etc all the things I gave when I signed up for the account PLUS additional info they asked like my height, locations I lived and people I may know (mind you I never gave them this information) AFTER all of this they still claim they cannot verify my identity and cannot close the account.
The supervisor mentioned did the exact same verification process and failed to verify me and gave no reasons why then placed me on a 1 hour hold with no updates or help.
If I can open an account with all the info why can't I close it?
Additionally, I cannot log into online banking because they may have frozen the account? Regardless I can't get the full account number nor can I login to transfer money because the opening account transfer was decline. NO explanation why. I guess they want my 0$ balance fee to ring up here in the next month so they can charge me for that.
No I will not go into the branch to close an account I have opened online, been ignored, disrespected and treated like a number not a person. I have verified with every bit of information you have asked for and am left with no reason why I am still not able to close it aside from "we cannot verify you for security reasons" I ask WHY? They say "for security reasons we can't say".
Absolute insanity. The definition and pinnacle of corporate American sterility and greed. Impersonal and dry.
Please use support your local bank.
BOA please reach out and help me cancel. No I will not be further inconvenienced by physically coming into...
Read moreI made an appointment for 11am today to get some assistance on completing some paperwork they sent me. I got there about 5 minutes early and was back in my car at 11:02. I checked in with the teller and he asked me to take a seat. No problem. Then the woman I'm supposed to have my meeting with approaches me and rather than ask me into her office to have a conversation, she asks me why I'm there and has me pull out the paperwork while we're still in the lobby. A little unprofessional in my opinion but okay. When she reluctantly asks me into her office I tell her (again) I need help with the paperwork, she thumbs through it and says I did it correctly. I told her I just started it and didn't finish because I didn't want to do it incorrectly. I ask her to look again "are you sure it's completed correctly?". Again, she said it was and told me to go stand in line to have it notarized. She wanted me to go stand in a long line to go have a document that was blank except for my name and address on page 1 notarized. No notary is going to notarize that! I left. Awful...
Read more(TL;DR): mostly nice employees and great online banking minus some understandable hiccups in service.
The managers and most tellers are friendly polite knowledgeable and nice. I occasionally run into a rude teller or one who doesn't know how to deposit travelers checks...I've also had difficulty with a couple other issues related to changing my wife's name from her maiden name to her new name. Long story short rather than change her name they canceled my debit card on accident and gave her one with the wrong zip code associated with it and STILL didn't change her name. I think that's more likely some home office mistake though cause the guy we spoke to in person was super nice which is why I give this branch 4s (-1 for the occasionally grumpy/rude teller, but I mean people are effin crazy about money so their job is prolly really stressful). and Bank of America as a whole gets 3*s because although they super messed up the one time I tried to get something done with them they have amazing advanced online banking that makes life...
