For more than five years, Pei Wei has been one of our favorite restaurants. However, after this evening's experience we will probably not be back, at least not at this location. We went there for a birthday celebration and the quality of the food was horrible. I have eaten the Thai Wonton soup dozens of times over the years. Tonight it did not look, let alone taste, like the same soup at all. It had a stinky, dark brown broth (not like the hot and sour soup which we also like) instead of a light green, clear broth like it is supposed to.
More significantly, it was so salty, we could not eat it. And, it actually stunk so much that we wondered if they were playing a sick joke on us. They did not serve it with the fried wonton strips they usually do and did not provide a spoon. The spoons in the spoon container were not soup spoons but large serving spoons that could not fit in anyone's mouth. When I asked for a spoon, the kitchen staff looked around the kitchen as if they had no idea where they keep their soup spoons. Perhaps they need training? The bottom line: other than one bite, no one would touch the soup.
The flavor for the honey seared chicken was a little better but it was prepared so rapidly (about 3 minutes after we got our drinks) that the noodles were still hard. And it arrived about 15 minutes before the soup. They had also left out the peppers and rice sticks and it had very little chicken in it.
None of the staff seemed to know what the food was supposed to actually taste like or how it should be served. The manager seemed completely at a loss and said they mess up orders all the time. We saw her talk with them and they just rolled their eyes at her.
We rarely if ever complain about the food at a restaurant, but Pei Wei used to be a family favorite.
In the past couple of weeks, we've had several friends tell us that they don't go there anymore because of the steep decline in quality. We didn't want to believe them, but they were right. Worst...
Read moreI’ve always loved Pei Wei. The food is delicious and fresh. However my last 2 encounters have exhibited their lack of customer service and taking care of customers when situations go awry. I’m physically disabled due to a multitude of illnesses. I had ubereats deliver pei wei a few months ago and I was missing an item. I called Pei Wei and spoke with a females manager. She said I could drive to the store and get a refund or my missing spring roll. I told her I had the food delivered bc I was unable to drive. She was rude and short with me and acted like I shouldn’t even be upset that they had made a mistake and left out my spring roll. It was never settled and I was out a spring roll. Second bad experience happened last Saturday. Ordered to go on the phone and paid for it on the phone and had my son pick it up. When he went in he was informed they had run out of chicken lettuce wraps and would refund my card for that portion of the order since I had already paid over the phone. My order total was $44. I kept checking my bank account for a refund for the chicken lettuce wraps and never received the refund. Called and asked for a manager. Was put on hold. Was on hold over 10 minutes when someone picked up the line and hung up. I was rendered speechless. Their managers do not handle customer service well at all. They are rude and avoid you if there is an issue. And now I’m out $$ for a spring roll and an order of chicken lettuce wraps. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on...
Read morePoor customer service. Within a two week period I have experienced the worst customer service that has made me decide never to step foot into a Pei Wei again. One time I called my order in and when I got there in my allotted time period the person taking my order didn't send it to the kitchen. So I left because I couldn't wait for it to be made. The second time I went into the "To Go" area to order my food. I was given a hard time because I was not in the main line to order. Apparently you can't come in to order any longer. You can only call in or go online or stand in the main line with the dine in people. What's the point? I didn't want me order screwed up again and I was in the vacinity. Once again I left. When I called to explain my frustration to the manager I got some laim excuse about not taking priority over the dine in person. Why give you my money when you obviously aren't there for the convince of the customer. Why even have carry out service? Keep your priority on the dine in customer then and close your Take Out side. It's obvious you can't keep up with both. I would rather drive out of my way on the other side of town to a different restaurant that is better...
