The EPMA is a very cool place to go. *FULL DISCLOSURE- My wife works there and gives me the inner scoop.
The museum store is my favorite place to go besides the exhibits. Partly because the store always has really neat stuff for the artists in your life and there’s always something fresh and original. However I mostly buy stuff from the store because a lot of the items are MADE by LOCAL ARTISTS and a portion of your purchase goes to them so they can keep creating more of what they love. As artists ourselves my wife and I fully believe in supporting/buying locally.
The museum also has workshops and other events going on for the whole family. So if you want to know about what’s going on just stop in by the store or check out the website and you’ll get whatever questions you have answered.
Also please remember that when you go please be respectful not only of the museum but of the folks that work there and PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN about the the prices of the items. There has to be a profit made not only to keep the store going but the local artists that help contribute items for sale at the store. These folks work hard not only to keep creating fresh original artwork but also to support their families so please keep that in mind.
So go enjoy the museum...
Read moreAside from being bare and empty, employees are rude and disrespectful. They made my niece, I and other visitors leave 10 min before closing because "they had to close and turn off lights." The guards chased us and other people around so we could go. They kept saying we are closing already and they kept telling each other, "Come on we want to go home." The other people walked out just 30 sec or a min before us because we walked around a stairwell to see that wall on our way out. My little niece had been asking me to take her and we would never make it to at least peek inside. Now, I get why it's always completely shut off and locked well before their 6p.m. closing time. As I walked out I said that they're supposed to close the doors at 6. The manager (a thin young man), I assume, said we need to turn off lights and things before we go...meaning- we want to be out of here before 6. 🤔👎 We won't go back. My baby niece was very disappointed and said it was very rude for them to follow us and make people leave. If a kid can see it, something...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting not long ago, what we experienced was utter shame on the museum's security. I didn't know that when you enter the building that we would have a security officer be at our side the whole time telling us what to do and how to look at the art. I'm a very detailed person when I look at art and or photographs. As I got closer to look at the work, the woman security officer yelled at me that if I got any closer that two feet of the piece that she would have me thrown out or arrested. I didn't know that couldn't enjoy our visit but to be spoken to like child or criminal, that drew the line. I told the "Rent-A-Cop" that if she didn't step back from my personal space, that she would need to have her supervisor handle the matter. When I asked her who her supervisor is, she told us that "she is" the supervisor and her rules apply. We will never return to this half-wit museum. What a shame as well, it has some potential of being better...
