Revisited today, 4/21/24 The large dog side has reopened, but both parks are still mostly very dusty dirt. Nevertheless, my dog still had a good time!
Rating reflects two maintenance related issues. The large dog area was closed due to a large erosion "landslide" so that all dogs and pup parents were relegated to the small dog area. The grounds were mostly dusty dirt with many holes and protruding roots from the multiple shade trees. Dogs vigorously chasing balls have an elevated chance of paw and/or leg injuries. Take care!!! Water towers and bowls were available and functioning adequately. There were three benches in this smaller side of the park. The large dog area appears to be more than two times bigger. Hopefully, after erosion repair, they'll renovate the grounds prior to reopening. A perfect opportunity to do so!!! Parking is street parking in an apartment area...kinda limited. Bottom line, a decent area for you and your dog to explore...
Read moreTrees, grass, dirt, ocean breeze, and planes taking off and landing parallel to the park about 1000 ft away. The park has two, separated areas for both large and small dogs as well as both human and canine water fountains. The trees and ocean breeze provide both shade and cooling even on the hottest of days, no matter what time you're there. The other dogs and owners are all well behaved and I've never seen or been involved in any incidents at this dog park.
Update: witnessed an altercation between a few dogs yesterday; one was a pit bull, not sure of the other two and I was far enough away from it that I couldn't tell who starred it and who was to blame. Owners of all dogs involved seemed a bit slow to react and stop the incident from escalating to where the pit bull was bitten on the ear and his owners were carrying him out of the park. I'm writing this one off as an exception to what has always been a pleasant time while being...
Read moreThis place used to be nice. I don't know what happened. One gate is missing completely and the second one is barely functional. The water fountain is dug up ? and non-operational. And there are no poop bags being stocked at all. This is a very busy park in an upscale area, so not sure what is going on. The vast majority of the humans are not able to control their animals so you might get jumped on, crashed into, or peed on (all of which has happened to me there). Occasionally, you'll also run into some really obnoxious humans who think it's their job to police your activities in the park. I think the small dog side might be better than the...
