I have never been so disappointed with a large retailer like Belks in my entire lifetime, my wife purchased a ring from the Belks online site. The ring arrived and my wife after receiving the ring decided it was not what she really thought it would be and decided to return the ring. On the sales receipt it states return back to any Belks store for refund, my wife then goes to the Elizabeth City North Carolina Belks Store and the ring was refunded with a receipt. As my wife was walking away the manager by the name of Holley, yells out to my wife and states we can't take back fine jewelry at this location. My wife stated I have a receipt from the employee who just completed the transaction, and it states on your receipt take back to any Belks Store. Holley stated I will just void it out, and took the receipt from my wife and voided the transaction. My wife was so embarrassed she did not know what to say, is this how a store manager treats paying customers. So when we contacted Belks Corporate they stated we had to address this issue with the store, so we did and spoke to Holly's boss Cathy who said how sorry she was and Holley just had a moment. Cathy offered my wife a 20% off coupon, and than when my wife said I have plenty of those. Cathy then contacted my wife the next day offering a $50.00 dollar give card to Belks which my wife declined. How insulting, thinking we were just looking for a hand out or a gift card. We are closing our account, and will shop at another large retailer that treats the customer's with respect. My wife was told to go to another location in Nags Head, NC to make the refund transaction, so my wife had to take a couple of hours to travel to another Belks to complete the process what a joke. I work at a large mall in Virginia, and Mall Management never treats customers like that, I do not hold a grudge againts any of the good employees that work at Belks because we have had interactions with some that were very helpful and polite but the two mentioned and...
Read moreOld clerk charged me $180.00 for $90.00 worth of merchandise. I was told items were buy one, get one free. I bought four; was charged full price for five! I bought two t shirts, 2 for $24.00; was charged $18.00 each for four! I bought a shirt 60% off but was charged more. I checked the receipt before I left and saw all the mistakes. The clerk attempted to correct the mistakes but seemed unable to process what I was telling her. As I checked the receipt she tried to pluck it out of my hand. At that point I had enough & began calling loudly for the manager, who appeared quickly, did not make eye contact with me but instead asked the clerk what happened. I interrupted angrily and loudly explained what happened. At that point I wanted to just void the whole purchase and get my check back. The manager told me that wasn't possible since the clerk had already typed in a partial refund. The manager listened to me catefully, ignored the frantic whispery explanations of the nervous grandma and refunded all the overcharges and gave me an additional 20% off. Moral of this story? Look carefully at your receipts, raise hell loudly when you see you've been ripped off and demand the offending party or parties make it right. I learned that from my mom....
Read moreI normally don't have problem when I shop at this Belks until recently when I went in to pay my bill. I informed the cashier the amount I would like to pay, she did whatever she need to do on her side of the register, I paid with my debt card my screen said APPROVED, she said it didn't go through, so I did insert my debt card once more it said APPROVED on my side again she said it did not go through. Again I did it the same process and it said APPROVED this time she said it went through. I go and check my bank account on line and I have three payments to Belks. I informed the cashier that there are (3) debt payments to Belks showing on my account. I ask for the manager, she comes and says that (2) of the payments will fall off. I call my bank while I am still in the store and they said give it until the next business day. OK 3 days later I am still short my money. So if I needed MY money to pay another bill I am out for 4 days. I THINK BELKS NEED TO TRAIN THE CASHIERS THE PROPER WAYS TO ACCEPT DEBIT PAYMENTS SO THAT THEY DO NOT TIE UP YOUR MONEY. I will dispute (2) payments with my bank, which is another process. JUST BE CAREFUL when you make a payment with your card especially...
