Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Elizabeth City

Me and my fiancé ordered three chicken sandwiches, 2 were combos with fry’s and chicken nuggets with a side of mashed potatoes after a 20 minute wait at the drive thru speaker while I was the first in line non the less I went on about my business I then checked the bag making sure all my food was in the bag as I was leaving I noticed I was missing some items I went back inside with my receipt and told them what was missing a sandwhich and a mashed potatoe side not to mention the fry’s that came with the sandwhich were thrown into a box instead of being separate which i didn’t even complain about when I addressed this issue with the man at the counter he rolled his eyes and said I got the food and that I was Lying I had double checked the bag and I knew for sure that i didn’t receive these items he was annoyed and disrespectful a younlady saved the day when she gave me the food I didn’t receive and as I was leaving the man said to the girl he got his food publicly infront of the restaurant accusing me of stealing this happened today around 2pm or so all I can say is I love Popeyes but your not going to get any business if your staff is disrespectful like that I am not in anyway one to rant but being accused of stealing takes the cake for me if management ever reads this please feel free to...

This is the WORST chicken, under the name of "Popeye's", that I have EVER tasted. Some inexperienced teenager must have cooked this chicken in some old cooking oil or something in their own kitchen at home. The color of the chicken is not like Popeye's, the taste is FAR from Popeye's and the arrogant, sassy mouth, angry workers are not like any Popeye's I have ever visited. This food is a waste of money. And to whomever reads this, please understand that this is the God loving truth about this place and this review has nothing to do with getting angry with any one at this location as some people do and then give a bad review. This is the truth... please pass this place by. I visited this place twice, hoping the second time someone had got it right....NOPE they are still serving this fake version of Popeye's chicken. Someone please help them to find the REAL recipe for Popeye's chicken. I have had the pleasure of eating delicious chicken at different Popeye's on the East Coast from Providence, RI down to North Carolina and this Elizabeth City restaurant needs to stop robbing people with this fake version of Popeye's chicken and close the joint down until someone comes along that knows how Popeye's chicken is really done. In 1st grade, I was the only one in my class to claim fried chicken as my favorite food. I have been a fan of Popeye's for quite some time, and, living in Elizabeth City, my choices were quite confined: Bojangle's. Since they opened this Popeye's, I have been back and forth between the two restaurants to make sure that I had a clearly defined favorite. The verdict: Popeye's is still my favorite fried chicken, and this particular establishment does not disappoint. Thanks for bringing Popeye's to Elizabeth City!

Update 3/26/22 My last several (6-8?) visits to the Elizabeth City Popeye's have been pretty bad. I still love Popeye's food, but I [reluctantly] reduced my review from 5 to 3 stars. Most of these unsavory visits were a result of running out of either dark meat chicken or the spicy variety. What good is a chicken joint that regularly runs out of chicken? This last visit, I was informed that they no longer offer the "dark meat only" option. Forgive me, but white meat just isn't my thing. Seems like some mediocre member of management is botching the entire store operation. Popeye's... I love you, but...
