On Sunday afternoon, my partner and I had the worst experience at Caputo’s in Mount Prospect, IL. We were utilizing the self-checkout and needed assistance to purchase 2 containers of honeydew that were on sale for 99¢ (container pictured). The cashiers nearby were busy assisting other customers, so my partner went up to a female staff member with facial piercings at the customer service desk next to the checkout area. He asked her if she could help us. Her immediate response, and the only words she communicated directly toward him were, “Jesus fu*king Christ.” After saying that, she proceeded to retrieve a card on a lanyard from a male worker in a black zip-up who was checking others out, before using the card to enter in the sale cost of our 2 containers of honeydew. The whole time, as she did this, she was noticeably agitated and said nothing to us. When I thanked her for her help, she said nothing. Once she was done and went back to the help desk, my partner described to me of their interaction when he approached her for help. After finishing with checking out, I approached the female worker, who was still at the help desk, with 2 female staff members standing next to her. I said, “My partner asked you to help us, and thank you for helping us, but your immediate response was to say, ‘Jesus Fu*king Christ’?” She explained that she was busy counting cash and couldn’t leave her task but helped us anyway because she could see that it was busy and apologized. I told her that she could have explained that to us, and we would have understood. I advised her to explain as such if it were to happen again. We left feeling very disappointed and a little rattled by the incident. Undoubtedly, that was the worst customer service experience each of us have encountered.

Really like their veggie and fruit selection, they always have some great deals on berries and fruit. Check out their meats too - very reasonable prices. One of the rare places where you can find high quality bulk Italian sausage (both hot and mild). Wine is overpriced, $5 more than the same bottle at TJ’s. They also have a gelato corner, pistachio is my go to, super creamy.

It's rare anymore to see a grocery store with a full fresh market including made to order sandwiches, a fresh bakery, a full bar, and a dedicated seating area. I would absolutely recommend this place! It is a smaller grocery store, but it has all of the essentials and a great selection of fresh foods.

Bathrooms are always out of soap and always smells like a dirty mop, Blow dryer still doesn't work after several month and the sinks always have encrusted dirt on it and BM stained on the seats and walls. Totally disgusting. They have a Full Time cleaner.....but it's never clean. Bar's Cashier Tanya (older woman) always screws up my and my partners orders and proceeds to blame the cooks and even raised her voice to me in front of people. No one at the Bar wears hats, I found a long orange hair hanging from my cup. I asked for a different coffee from a different cashier. Bar? "Happy Hour" is just a time for functional drunks to hang out and drink in public...they should ban this. Customers are walking around the store with open containers and scream talking, so Nasty. No employees tell them to lower their voices even though they are screaming at the top of their lungs. Teenagers gather here with no purchases and video tape shoppers and employees without their knowledge and proceed to post them online. No employees enforces the rules and allows unsanitary conditions to go on. No gloves while scooping ice cream? No hats while making coffee or getting a bagel?? This is a grocery store, not a Night Club and not a playground. Slot machines??... Open containers???...Children running around and screaming with no supervision. This place is a bad joke. I really doubt this place has much longer to stay in business. Oh well, maybe they will put a Chase...

I witnessed disgusting behavior at this store. One of the girls working there went out of her way to discriminate against another employee because of her race. She was rude, dismissive, and talked down to her in front of others, making it painfully clear it wasn’t about performance — it was about race. That kind of treatment is absolutely unacceptable. No one should be belittled or targeted because of who they are. It created a hostile, uncomfortable environment not only for the employee but for everyone watching. If management allows employees to bully or discriminate against their own coworkers like this, it says a lot about the store’s values. The staff made it crystal clear they judge people based on skin color, not character. That’s disgusting, outdated, and flat-out unacceptable. If this is how they treat paying customers and employees, they don’t deserve a single cent from anyone. Businesses like this should be ashamed to even exist in 2025. If you support them, you’re supporting racism....
