This is a review of their Wedding Cake services.
The Short Version ---
The employees at Central Continental Bakery have the worse customer service. They are DISORGANIZED and DISRESPECTFUL OF YOUR TIME. I was not treated like a valued customer and I cannot trust this bakery on my wedding day. Their lack of professionalism is unacceptable.
Trust the other reviews that discuss their disorganization!
I WILL NOT be ordering my Wedding Cake from here anymore. I have let my wedding venue know what happened and will use another bakery on their vendor list.
The Long Version ----
I am planning my wedding from out of town and scheduled my cake tasting in advance. When I made the appt I told them I was coming from out of town and that was the only available on Friday.
FRIDAY: My fiance and I showed up for the tasting and the building was temporarily relocated due to a fire next door and no one from the bakery told me....and I had just gotten off the phone with them prior to our arrival. (Fine, not a big deal. I can get over this).
We arrived at the temporary location and THEY DID NOT HAVE MY CAKE SAMPLES. The employee told me that someone called me yesterday to get the tasting flavors and left a voicemail. They said since I had not called them back, they didn't have samples for me. I had no missed calls or voicemails..so someone lied and said they had called me when they hadn't.
As annoyed as I was, I was understanding because the bakery had a crazy week with the fire and relocating, so I agreed to stop by Saturday on my way to another appointment. The employee assured me that I'd be in and out.
SATURDAY: I get to the bakery and the wedding cake coordinator is sitting with another couple. I figure it's an appointment before my 12:30pm appointment and wait patiently. At 12:45pm someone asks me if I've been helped. I told them I'm here for a cake tasting appointment at 12:30 and everyone looks at me utterly confused. An employee goes to the wedding cake coordinator and she looks surprised as well. She looks in her book and says she only has a 12:00 appointment listed......Are you serious?
They found my cake samples in the back, but someone had failed to let the coordinator know I was coming. The coordinator then says I can wait for them to finish. NO APOLOGIES, just that I can wait. At this point I have lost all patience. I had to leave the bakery by 1:00pm to get to my next appointment. When I told her that I had no time to wait, they asked me if I could come later that day. I emphasized again that I was from out of town and was leaving tomorrow. THEY MESSED UP MY APPOINTMENTS 2 DAYS IN A ROW.
The wedding cake coordinator had the nerve to say, "Well, I don't have you in my appointment book" I'm sorry, was that my fault?
Again, no apologies from her.
*Disclaimer: I am a very patient person and I RARELY write such a scathing review, but I could not ignore this issue. If I were vindictive enough, I would report them to the health department and city about the water leaking from the ceiling of their temporary location. That has to be a...
Read moreI used Central Continental Bakery as part of our wedding package through Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club last June 2013 (sorry for the late review!). They were phenomenal!! The people were so friendly and our cake tasting was absolutely wonderful! The cake itself was incredible, and all of our guests raved that it was the best wedding cake they've ever had - we agreed :) We had all three tiers different: chocolate cake with bavarian cream and strawberry filling, white cake with vacation cream and raspberry filling and chocolate and peanut butter. They were all perfect! Let's just saw we broke the tradition of eating our top tier on our one year anniversary and ate is promptly one week after our wedding - as soon as we returned from our honeymoon, we walked through the door and ate the cake! We even called ahead and asked our house-sitter to take it out of the freezer so it would be ready and waiting for us ;) I highly recommend CCB to anyone looking for a special occasion cake. They made it look beautiful as well, even though we had a simple, rustic look with no real design. It was...
Read moreSuper sloppy!
I know that's a strong accusation but if you don't know a thing about cakes and it's decor, it's wise to stay away from this place.
Tastes decent but the decor it's not at all impressive. Two of my friends had first birthday cakes here.
One for a girl, which was supposedly a quilt design for which it costed them more is what they were told. Though overall the cake looked nice cos of the pink n white colours, it was nothing close to quilt. It was more like rough criss-cross lines with a knife.
The other one was for a boy. Hot wheel theme. Two tier cake. I dunno how can one vomit such a grave mistake of forgetting to decorate the lower tier, leaving it all blank. The cake was supposed to have soil and grass on the lower tier and sky with clouds on the top tier. I still can't stomach the fact that they left more than half the cake white and blank.
Also they have less cupcakes(2 doz. Instead of 3) and cookies (1 doz.Instead of 2). All they could say about it was a SORRY!
Pls pls make sure your cake is as you ordered before taking the delivery.
P.S.: Will share the...
