After years of living with a faulty instrument cluster and researching how to get it fixed, I finally decided to take the long drive to Eastern Electronics in Elmwood Park NJ to get it repaired while I waited so my truck wouldnât be down for weeks. I told him I couldnât get there until 6pm or later depending on traffic and he said fine come on up. My complete cluster was totally dead, but if I pushed the trip meter/reset button in hard and held it there it would work perfectly so I was thinking the fix was going to be an easy/cheaper side. I removed the cluster at home then plugged it in and just laid it there for the over 2 hour drive to Elmwood Park. I backed into his driveway & Theo & John met me at the truck door. I showed them how it was dead but worked perfectly when I pushed the trip meter button in hard and held to there. I then removed it from the truck and gave it to him. He then asked if I needed to use the bathroom or anything else. He took me down in his basement and started taking my cluster apart. My truck is 24 years old and Iâm the 2nd owner. I never would have believed that someone had tried to repair this cluster before if I hadnât seen the damage with my own eyes. It was burned up with horrible re solder joints and the odometer LCD display was destroyed and unusable. At that point I said I see the work involved to repair this and I know itâs gonna be more than what was quoted, I drove a long way so please take whatever time you need to repair completely so I never have to worry about this cluster again and charge me an honest price. Over the next 2+ hours I watch this man rebuild & re solder my entire cluster to like new condition with final price being lower than I anticipated for the work performed.
This man is a true craftsman & passionately enjoys what he does for a living as well as helping people resolve problems that most others cannot fix!!! It was a long day/night but I couldnât be happier. THEO IS...
Read moreEdit.. 10/23 - I have not had any problems with the work that was done.
I own a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder LE. It has 132000 miles and still gets the job done. Iâve been driving around with a â Check Engine â light lit and a non working gas gauge for the past year.
The code reader indicated a faulty gas gauge. This reading was false and was being caused by a defect in the cluster. I found Eastern Electronics here on Google and finally had an opening in my schedule to head over to the shop for service.
When I arrived I went into the work bench area and knew immediately that I was in the right place. There are countless clusters and cluster parts all over the shop along with their tools. This is what they do. After removing my cluster and doing some testing they explained to me exactly what they were going to do and how long it was going to take (approximately 1hour). It was a nice day and I waited outside in the yard.
When the work was completed he quickly reinstalled the cluster and the gas gauge was working. I got home and connected the code reader and erased the code that was present. End result.. check engine light is off ..gas gauge is working and I can now pass inspection.
With the Covid complications in the car market I can now keep my trusty Pathfinder on the road until things hopefully return to normal and I can source a new vehicle.
I highly recommend Eastern Electronics.. no nonsense professional guys and their work is great and...
Read moreSo I tried looking for so many repair shops in NY and kept getting declined for some reason, even my personal mechanic told me he couldnât help me with my situation. So I googled âcluster repairâ and boom! This guy shop pops up, so I checked out the reviews and it seemed pretty good to me. I called the number that was listed on google and I believe a gentleman by the name of Tudor? Answered. I asked him a couple of questions and he told me âI can repair any cluster or duplicate the mileage on to the new clusterâ I said âexcellent, see you in a hourâ I went there spoke to him gave him my cluster and he basically duplicated it under 5 minutes! I was freaking shocked like woah! He showed me some algorithms that are on the cluster and how to read for mileage which I found impressive. He then verified that the mileage was correct on the new cluster by powering it through some wire that was connected to an outlit, I can honestly say heâs very knowledgeable, paitent and has excellent customer service skills. Also his payment methods are awesome! I didnât have cash which he accepts but he also accepts credit/debit and PayPal amoung others. Great pricing, worth checking out and YOU WONT REGRET...
