When my grandmother gifted me some of her most cherished jewelry, pieces my late grandfather had given her, I was honored beyond words. Among them was a beautiful pearl necklace that needed to be restrung and a diamond ring that needed resizing. The ring, in particular, holds deep sentimental value to me. It is more than just a piece of jewelry. It is an heirloom, a connection to both of my grandparents, and something I hope to pass on one day myself. Naturally, I was incredibly nervous about handing it over to anyone, especially with so many horror stories out there about people having diamonds or pearls swapped out without their knowledge. I decided to bring the pearl necklace to Janvier Jewelers first, and they did a fantastic job. The restringing was flawless, and the price was very reasonable. That experience gave me the confidence to bring in the diamond ring. My original plan was to simply have it resized. But when I went in, Janviers suggested an alternative that I hadn’t considered. They offered to preserve the top portion of my original ring and set it onto a new ring that would fit better and feel more updated. The first option they showed me was over my budget, which was completely understandable since I hadn’t given them a price range. Once I shared my budget, they were incredibly respectful and never once tried to upsell me. Even though I wasn’t spending a large amount, they took their time and made sure I found something I really loved. The ring I ended up choosing was actually $200 under budget, which was a great surprise. The setting I picked had small diamonds on the side of the setting, and with the original plan to attach the top of my ring, those diamonds would have been completely hidden. I wasn’t thrilled about that part but decided to move forward anyway. Janviers gave me a melt value for the gold from my original ring and deducted that from the final cost. I only had to pay a few hundred dollars to start, and they kindly let me pay the rest over time, without any pressure. I assumed that they wouldn’t start working on the ring until I had finished paying it off. Each time I came in to make a payment, they showed me both my original ring and the new setting, which really reassured me. It made it clear how trustworthy they are. Then came the biggest surprise. My mom received a call saying the ring was finished, even though I still had a $300 balance remaining. They told me I could pick it up whenever I was ready to finish paying. I was so excited, I went in that very same day. When they handed me the finished ring, I was completely blown away. It was absolutely stunning. My grandmother hadn’t cleaned the ring in decades, so the diamonds were dull and lacked sparkle. Janviers had polished the diamonds so beautifully that all I could see were rainbows. And instead of cutting the original setting off and placing it onto the new ring, they went above and beyond. They carefully removed each diamond from the original ring and reset them into the new setting in a way that allowed the side diamonds to remain visible. The final result was better than I ever imagined. Janvier Jewelers is truly one of a kind. Their craftsmanship, honesty, and customer service are unmatched. They treated my heirloom with such care and respect, and never once made me feel pressured or rushed. Their pricing is more than fair, and their trustworthiness is something you don’t find often these days. I recommend them to everyone I know, and I will absolutely go back for all of my future jewelry needs. (Photos: First is my original ring and the new setting I picked. Second and third show the...
Read moreI purchased so much jewelry from Janvier Jewelers at Christiana Mall and always dealt with Ed and Joe. When Joe left it was not the same. I took my ring in when Joe was in the hospital and the younger brother and wife took over. One prong to the ring broke and needed to be fixed. It cost me close to $400.00. I was shocked. This was a custom ring and they changed the style to my ring. The original prongs were twisted and they changed the style of the ring which was not what I asked. All it needed was to fix one prong. Once Joe opened his own Store in Elsmere near the Fire Company. He is honest and will go out of his way to find what you are looking for. He even helped me to price my mother's jewelry for her estate after she died. He is a person who always wants to please the customer and will go out of his way. I will never go anyplace else for good jewelry or repairs. Especially after Janvier Jewelers at Christian Mall which is not Joe's business changed the style of my custom made ring by Joe and Ed Janvier. Ed and Joe worked with me to design the style of my ring. I believe Ed is retired. However, Joe is #1, who I can always trust. He cares about his customers and is a honest person. You can not go wrong to make your purchases their, have your jewelry repaired, or have him find what you want that may not be there. Keep in mind also he can give you a price of jewelry for an estate. You could never go wrong with Joe. He is not the Janvier Jeweler at Christiana Mall. He is...
