Who needs a stairmaster when you can take the 143 steps down to the sand, a super chill spot to hang out, you can stroll miles in either direction on the sand. Surfing, boogie boarding is great there, but check the tide tables before you head out... It's a residential area with mansions on the ocean side and Neptune Avenue is also a great place to walk dogs, but no dogs are allowed on the beach there. Great place to watch sunsets with the locals. I actually should have given it one star so we can keep it all to ourselves.... raised a kid right across the street from Stone Steps and have zero regrets. There's some vacation rentals nearby, but since it's off the 101 there's really not much tourist traffic there. There's quite a few budget places on the 101 if all you want to do is surf and have a place to crash. Leucadia has undergone some gentrification, but there is still the vibe and funk feel, a few remnants of the 70s. The Eagles lives and recorded there in the 1970s about a block to the South of the stairway, there's a little plaque that tells the story, and they reportedly wrote Hotel...

An absolutely beautiful beach! A lovely spot to view the sunset both from sea level and the cliff.

Nearby parking consists of residential streets so you might need to park a few blocks away during peak hours/season.

There's a lifeguard tower near the stairs so you can trust during work hours they are keeping an eye on you. The lifeguards are also cautious of the cliff erosion and will ask people to move away from the cliff when needed.

The beach access consists of a ton of stairs so it is not friendly for those with physical...

The water was clear, cold, and gorgeous. There were surf lessons taking place, lots of people playing volleyball. This is a perfect place for families with children of various ages as there’s a small spillway that is reminiscent of a baby pool.

Only major downfall was parking. We arrived at 9:30 and there wasn’t any parking within a block any way. We are a family with multiple disabilities (asthma, cystic fibrosis, amputee, tachycardia and autism) and we had to walk pretty far to...

I love this beach! Both Moonlight and Stone Steps is near my home, however Moonlight is ALWAYS packed and busy with parties, BBQs, get-togethers and families. It is probably nicer to come for gatherings, however, Stone Steps is rarely packed with people, and so beautiful. It's good to check the tide level as sometimes you can show up and there is no where to sit because the water has reached the cliff side. Apart from the walk back up the steep steps this is one of my favorite beaches!
