Dude, delicious sandwiches. Well done Moto Deli people. I've wanted to stop in to the location or find the food truck since they snagged my eye on Instagram. Bravo to your social media manager being active in your immediate local area, otherwise I likely might have never heard of you. Anyway, I'm too lazy to find the truck on any given day, so I stopped by the restaurant. A couple of times.
While my review is 5 stars, there's room for improvement. The hours for the brick and mortar restaurant are spartan, even though they've expanded a lot. Initially, they were only open a few days a week. I believe that it's currently open from 10-3 every day (per their website), but that makes it rough to get there if you don't work in the area. I mean, unless you don't work.
The restaurant itself is a nice place to be. Whomever did their interior design did an excellent job with the theme. If you ever visited the sub shop that was here before, you'll be blown away by how good both the inside and outside areas are. That said, the inside doesn't have a great flow around the ordering area, so it was a bit of chaos when we were there.
"Bret, tell me about the goddamn sandwich already!" It was good. The entire menu looked really good, but I landed on the Turketta. I have no regrets. The bread was dope, the sandwich was dope. It was dope. I want to come back because there are least 4 other sandwiches I want to try. It was a big sandwich, and it came with chips. All of it was really good quality. There's a pretty broad range in prices, so you can get sandwiches from anywhere between $9-$16, with most of them falling in the $10-$11 range.
Parking kind of blows, but you can usually sneak a spot in the hidden garage in the alley. You do risk getting towed because it's for the center next door, so park at your own risk.
I'll definitely be back. Sooner if they open for dinner, or swing the truck by Sorrento...
Read moreExcellent tasty sandwiches. These people make seriously good sandwiches. I've now tasted three on their menu, all excellent. Ruben? Best Ruben I've ever had. Hoisin pork Ban Mi -Very good - my only criticism here would be a nit-pick on the French style baguette. Good but not perfect, but if you don't want that crispy crunchy crust I expect on a baguette then, you're good (and saved your mouth from a little abrasion :-)). And my third sample the, the Turketa, is delicious too. Note that these are not inexpensive sandwiches, but they are a good size and made with super quality ingredients. To me, a great sandwich starts and ends with great bread. So far all their bread is excellent. Note that it also takes a bit of time to make them if they're the hot ones.
My wife and I have decided that we could split one sandwich easily and be well satisfied. Only problem is the negotiation on which one to get. Bonus - they make a killer chocolate chip/chunk cookie. I think they call it a triple chocolate chip. Might be my favorite chocolate chunk cookie. Wow. Again, quality ingredients, and great bursts of chocolate. Don't try it unless you want to hear it calling your name the next time you're in the area.
Finally, there is nothing fancy about the outside seating area. Bench style picnic tables, a bar and a few small tables. Functional and maybe could be a bit cleaner, but this does not bother me. I will definitely be back. (And they seem to play alternative rock style music which could be from one of...
Read moreThis place definitely surprised us, very quaint decor and a European inspired menu. We had the Burrata, local crudo, the meatballs, beef tartare and the catch of the day.
Everything was cooked extremely well, flavorful, and we welcome spooning every last bit into our mouth. Seems like a simple menu, but my guess is they do everything well judging by how well balanced our dishes were made and spiced.
Standout place in a crowded sea of Italian and Mexican restaurants. I tend to reserve 5 strars for superb dinner experiences and while this won't blow you away, it is certainly a very fine meal and a place well deserving of being in North county as better than another run of the mill "American new" cuisine that you find every where around us.
Awesome job guys, we'll...
