I hesitate to write the review I have in mind because I selfishly dread the possibility of long wait times or difficulty getting an appointment. Both of which became problems at the last place this talented new owner was excercising her skill. More importantly though, I feel an obligation to my fellow citizens of Encinitas and the Noth County to point out an excellent new business in Encinitas called V&M Barbershop. Vickie is the owner and main barber who has recently taken the leap to move beyond her former status as Premier Stylist at another company to now become an owner/operator as well. Always cheerful and welcoming, Vickie had cut my hair previously for almost 2 years and I was quite pleased that she decided to open her own place AND kept it local, so that I could continue receiving the experience I had to come to anticipate each month as my hair got longer and more annoying. The experience begins with a very meticulous haircut which is careful and precise to your specifications without ever becoming long, tedious or annoying as haircuts can at some shops. I always feel like I get my money’s worth both in the final product (my haircut) and in the time and effort she puts in. Vickie is a true professional. Many young stylists seem to have been taught to cut hair by rote (One, cut the sides and back with buzzers, two, blend in with scissors, three your basically done). Vickie has a much more sophisticated style which reflects her international training and experience. One option she offers in addition to hair cutting is one of the most relaxing head and scalp massage/shampoo that you can imagine. Beginning with a nice steamed towel on your face, she soon starts gently massaging the shampoo into your hair. Her hands are magical. Strong but gentle, you become putty in her hands as she works the shampoo into your hair. Believe me, the aroma, the warm water and her hands at work together combine to nearly put you into that light dreamy almost sleeping state. She also offers straight razor shaves for the face and for the neck. That’s a classy way to finish a haircut! Last but not least the prices are reasonable. I don’t want to see them charge any less because like I said I’m selfish and don’t want to see a bunch of kids in there, but it is not as costly as you might think. So do yourself a favor men and treat yourself for once to little bit of heaven. You will leave relaxed, happy and with a clean...
Read moreTHE BEST. Michael has been cutting my hair for nearly TEN years. Even when I moved to LA I would drive down every 3-4 weeks to see him. As a professional fashion model I can assure you he’s the best in the business. I’d be nothing without him. Do not let any poor review here leave an impression on you. Look at my profile pic, that’s the product of Michael’s cutting. He and his wife Vicky are SO sweet and professional. They take same day appointments only so make sure to call in the morning and...
Read moreBest barbershop in the Encinitas/Carlsbad area. Vicky and Michael are wonderful people and masters of their craft. I have been going there every few weeks for over 2 years and I have always had a great haircut. Their prices are very reasonable and similar to others in the area.
They take same-day appointments so make sure to call as soon as they open. They also take walk-ins, but they are usually pretty booked so you are much better off making an...
