Well, kinda sucks. I was trying to get over pass, before Memorial Day Weekend at the end of May. I was early in the 3rd week of May, trying to beat the herd. I forgot park service, federal government, will never open SR410, from Crystal to pass for any reason, before the last weekend of May. I have never been disappointed in the drive past Crystal to Chinook Pass and beyond. Cayuse Pass to SR12 (US 12?), ditto. My question? If global warming leaves this area clear of snowfall in January to the following December- will bureaucracy - our government - still keep it closed, even with snow free roads. Too busy to change making all them new laws. If I include any pictures, they may be East and West of Pass, from last year. Since, I couldn't break thru Park Land (Federal) without going to jail, I went up to Crystal Mountain as a backup. There are some dirt roads on each side of main road before you reach ski area, that offer hiking, exploring and even though I haven't found a road a car would have problems with, some may think it's to primitive for their car. You can always turn around, or back up to where you can, if you're proficient with operating your vehicle. If I remember to take pictures, I will have more after August & later- depending when...
