Screamin' Eagle is a wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri. When it opened on April 10, 1976 for America's Bicentennial celebration, Guinness World Records listed it as the largest coaster at 110 feet (34 m) high and as the fastest coaster at 62 mph (100 km/h). The ride is a modified 'L'-Shaped Out And Back. The Screamin' Eagle was manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters and was the last coaster designed by John Allen, who was a designer of roller coasters, believed a coaster should inspire awe, not only from a ride full of thrills, but also from its magnificent beauty. Originally Allen wanted to design a coaster to replace the Comet at Forest Park Highlands, but lack of funds prevented him from doing such. The Screamin' Eagle is reminiscent of the Comet, mirroring its L-shape, but to a much larger scale #amusementpark #sixflags #stlouis #eureka #Missouri

I am an ARKANSAS girl, but thanks to having family near it, went to Six Flags many times, growing up. I can remember when the Mine Train was the current coaster there (telling on myself, 🙂) and the Screamin' Eagle was the new kid on the block. (Just a few years later, along came the first Loop de loop, the Jet Scream.) Wait times were crazy!

My family and I, and cousins, had to suffer through for the opportunity to try it out, and it didn't disappoint. That, along with the Log Flume, were the highlights of a day there, and on my senior trip (in the, AHEMMMM, mid-80's, yes, now I'm Really telling on myself. 😂) they still were. Well, along with scoping out boys, of course...

I haven't returned to Six Flags in all these years since, but if I were ever to take my children, you can bet they'd have been regaled with all the old stories, and I'm sure they'd want to tip their hats to the esteemed and grand old wooden avian "sir" and climb aboard to give it a whirl. I've read these reviews with interest, and find it delightful that this wonderful old coaster is still bringing joy to new generations of kids/families. Fly on, Screamin'...

I went on the screaming eagle 8-8-25 and I was in the 3rd set of seats from the front , and it was the most rough , dangerous ride I have EVER BEEN ON . The downward slams I experienced slammed everyones head forward down to their chests . I'm writing this the next morning , and I couldn't sleep last night , my middle, ring, and pinky fingers were numb and tingly last night , and this morning I experienced a pinched nerve between my shoulders ..

I'm about to call the park and have them look into this .

This ride was super violent. Don't ride . I'm only 42 years old , and maybe a teenager might fair better , but I guarantee their won't...

Classic wooden roller coaster that is what you would expect from such a roller coaster. I like the fact that it is rough but not too rough like some wooden coasters tend to be. There are some nice drops and you get some good speed on the ride. It does have some coverage in the line pathways if there is a wait so you can get some shade if it is hot and sunny out.

I deducted a star because the covered areas offer shade in line but they can get hot when it is crowded. I also prefer more in a roller coaster so these typically are not for me but it...
