The actual ride itself is one of two tracks, one which was later sold. Today, the ride operates with its original name. The ride has also received modern upgrades, including a new control panel. It is a popular family and beginner coaster, since it is the smallest in the park. Often called simply the Mine Train, it is unique in the fact that it has no automatic system for the lap bars; instead, employees have to manually lock and unlock the bars. Trains are five cars with riders arranged two across in three rows. In total, the coaster has three trains that have a total capacity of 90 riders (30 each) #amusementpark #sixflags #stlouis #eureka #Missouri

The River King mine train opened with the park in 1971, themed after an actual mine that operated in Illinois until 1989. Sadly this roller coaster no longer races each other. The other half (Big Bad John) is located at Magic Springs. This ride is a pure classic and has feels fairly smooth for its age compared to its older brothers in Georgia and Texas. The best part of the ride is final drop down in the mine shaft. This is also a good coaster not only for young kids who meet the hight requirement, but also fun for adults as this coaster reaches 37 mph, which is not bad for only standing 32 feet tall! I recommend this ride for anyone, as long as they don’t mind the bumps in rides first half.

Nice roller coaster that is good for a wide range of people. It does not have any super high drops, sharp turns, or loops to go around. The max speed was listed at between 35-40 mile per hour, so not too bad either as far as speed is concerned. It was not crowded either so you could hop in line and ride it multiple times easily. Why did I give it 3 stars? I like roller coasters with a bit more thrill so this one is not really for me. It is a good coaster, great for families so other may like it more than me in that regard.

The coaster was an old coaster that despite it's age was still a ton of fun to ride. It's the oldest coaster inside the park. The coaster deserves at least 4 stars (if not 5), but the way park management was running the coaster was pathetic. There was over an hour long wait for the coaster and they were only running a single train!! The ride operators were fairly slow loading and unloading trains too, but this does have to be done manually on this coaster so I wasn't too upset by that. The final nail in the coffin though was not having a team member sorting guests. Nearly every train had 1-3 rows (rows not seats) completely empty. The lack of efficiency made for a terribly frustrating...
