I had no idea this place had finally opened up! we went because I really wanted to compare it to 99 Ranch. it's slightly cheaper & it has more of the items I grew up with. I actually found all the Chinese items I wanted at this location vs. 99 Ranch!
so this supermarket like 99 Ranch has a fish section, hot pot section, fresh produce, frozen section & a work in progress food court. the only thing it doesn't have right now is a bakery. I think Great Wall would do great if it had a dining option like it does in Falls Church. I'd love some good pineapple buns haha
I was fairly impressed with the selection plus. they have the black sesame candy I was craving which 99 Ranch does not carry! it's a little closer to me than 99 Ranch but not by much. I'll definitely be going to this supermarket more often, plus with my parents coming to visit, I know they prefer Great Wall (as it was started in NY).
as of right now, the food court only has BaoBuddy which isn't bad, but sells all their buns in bulk (pack of 6 for $20). the Chinese lady kept talking to us in Mandarin & would yell at people if they touched the buns. my husband had such a hard time understanding her because the music was incredibly loud and she was talking very low haha he got incredibly confused, but we did walk away with a pack of buns (pork scallion buns). incredibly juicy, pretty flavorful, but it was more bread...

The cashier and her group of coworkers(they were Spanish) treated me horribly and even verbally assaulted saying âWhat, you donât get confused?â when I pointed out that I was expecting a simple apology for their mistake instead of her spending time with coworkers, giggling, looking at me as if I was begging for 50 cents which was the result of the cashierâs mistake. Did I know if it was 50 cents we end up talking about? No. I just told the cashier that she checked out for a wrong item. She had me stood there without telling me what she was going to do and instead she and her colleagues were talking and laughing, peaking at me as if they were talking about me as a petty person who was desperate for 50 cents. I understood the cashier was just a kid but it was so insulting that she and even her senior(a friend cashier) refused to apologize me, not even for their mistake but for having me wait for so long. And they looked at me as if saying that you got your 50 cents so now get out. Absolute worst experience of grocery shopping. I used to love going there after my workout on my way home but I donât think Iâll...
Read moreThey've got a horrible sewage smell over there! Also the store manager is cleverly delusional, over-confident, stiff-necked, and racist. In his proud and delusional mind, he judged us unworthy of basic human decency, based on our outward appearance. In addition to all of this, some, if not most, of the store employees are fearful of people who appear to be black. Sadly, many have already been brainwashed against black people, before they even arrive to the U.S. They are willfully ignorant, believing what they heard, therefore generalizing all people who appear black into the category of bad news. This complaint of racism is so old and so worn out, that I am weary from writing and discussing about it, but it is people like this store manager and his employees who keep it very much alive. But I'm not weary with well-doing. Those who practice racism love to hide their true thoughts and feelings, because they are insecure cowards to the core. But they should be exposed, for the benefit of those who have eyes to see and...
