1310 Gallery - Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts — Attraction in Fort Lauderdale

Although I don't live here, and haven't been able to reach anyone in regards to applying to live here, I've curated multiple exhibitions in this space, and worked for Broward County Cultural Division when it was planned as a residential development with gallery space for artists. A great idea, but little resources have been invested in the space since.

The artists who live there are active in the community and do their best to put exhibitions together and support each other. Unfortunately there are limited resources for this space and upkeep is minimal as the property management doesn't really focus on the gallery or allow them to re-paint. The artists are responsible for installing lights or patching and painting walls after exhibitions, and pretty much anything else that happens there.

There is a fee to rent the gallery space and it is only open to the public if the artist who pays to show there is there, otherwise the space is locked.

The Artist's Studios (people who have lived there since it's been open) are beautiful and really allow art appreciators to connect with the folks who work in that space.

It's a vital resource for many artists in Broward County. There aren't many galleries in the area with the same amount of space (3 floors). It's especially great for large group shows, although parking is limited and you will need to rent a parking lot down the street if you expect to have more than a few people attend.

Because it's so big, it echoes pretty loud in the space so it's rather difficult if you'd like to hire musicians to play during a show as well.

Positive things about this space are unlimited, especially as this county lacks alternative art spaces similar in quality. The artists here make it great.
