These tennis courts are nicely situated in the South corner of the park in e nice neighborhood right next to the basketball court in the Northern part of Fort Lauderdale between Commercial and Oakland Boulevards.
Two hard courts in desperate need of repair with lights. I was there during the day time so I'm not sure how good the lights are. I did see lights beside the side of the fence so perhaps they are getting and upgrade.
The good news is there is nice spacing between the courts so there for singles or doubles play with room to maneuver and its easier to keep your tennis balls on your own court.
The fencing is a bit low at 8 feet so if you high lobs or have a powerful overhead be ready to retrieve your ball.
Parking is free and it does get full so plan accordingly as it's a busy park. If you are taking lessons you will have to do it on the down low as it is discouraged but not unprecedented. There is no crime in wanting to improve your tennis game...
Read moreThis is a lovely 6.8 acre park in the upscale Bayview neighborhood of Ft. Lauderdale, It is located next to Cardinal Gibbons High School. Located on a spacious corner lot, the park is very open with many access points. There is an ample parking area lining one side of the park.
Park amenities include lighted athletic fields, tennis courts, basketball court, open play area, picnic tables, ADA accessible shaded playground with many climbing and play structures, tennis court, and restroom.
I walked the exercise path that takes you around the perimeter of the park, Along the way I encountered a lot of nice shade trees and manicured landscaping throughout the park, I saw a couple of other people exercising and a few were having a picnic but the majority of the people were concentrated in the playground area. This is a nicer than average neighborhood park in one of the nicer neighborhoods of...
Read moreWhat a sad state of affairs for Fort Lauderdale. This park used to be awesome and they have let it go so much so that they have areas blocked off with construction netting and plywood. Parents were complaining about the fact that the bathrooms were locked because there was nothing going on at the baseball field that day. So what does that mean for the parents? It means kids peeing on trees and in bushes, which I understand was the way of the past, but there are way too many people around now for me to even feel remotely comfortable with that. Clean up your act Fort Lauderdale, the families that live in your city may not be your primary source of revenue like tourism is, but they are what makes up the environment. What you are selling. I don't want this area to turn into a commercial wasteland. Preserve the neighborhood and the amenities for the families...
