The 10.55 acre Riverland Park is located in Ft. Lauderdale. Built in 1997 on the site of the former Royal Plaza Mobile Home Park, it is just north of the Riverland Elementary School. The park is open every day from 6 AM until 9 PM.
Park amenities include lighted athletic fields, basketball court, recreation center which can be rented, picnic tables and pavilions, grills, volleyball court, restrooms, playground, and exercise trail.
As requested by the community during its conception phase, the park also has a pool and water playground which offers lap swims, movie nights, recreational swims, and water aerobics. In order to use the aquatic facilities you buy a pass from the city. A 30 visit resident pass is $75. Non residents pay more and there are discounts for seniors and military members.
The city hosts events in the park including concert series. This park is also one of 12 in the city that has Club 55+,, offering programs for active adults to enjoy.
After being stuck inside from the tropical storm I enjoyed getting out of the house when the weather finally cleared. I walked the exercise path that runs the perimeter of the park and admired the many beautiful trees in the park. Read moreWe waited until 1 to get in. The 4 lifeguards on duty came out and said it would be another 20 min. Then went into the air conditioned booth and sat on their phones. When they finally opened the gate the girl said that the splash pad would not be open because they didn’t have enough lifeguards. Literally everyone there was there with small children and wanted to go to the splash pad. So out of the 4 guards only 1 sits at the stand at the pool.
